Angry Blew out a tire today!

I was driving on I-95 today passing by the Philadelphia Eagles stadium, when my truck started pulling real bad to the right, I though maybe it was the wind because I was on a high bridge. 5 seconds later my passenger front tire blew and I had to cross over 4 lanes to the shoulder riding on my rim...

And why is it that we take our spare tires and jacks out of the truck to save weight? Had to wait an hour for someone to bring me my tire from home.

Just glad I had control of the truck and was able to avoid traffic.
Anyone know a good deal on a new tire, or maybe some new rims and tires

Jon

I know the exact feeling. I too was on I95, but down near the delware/maryland border, when my same tire went out. REAL SCARY! I dont know how I didnt hit someone when crossing the 3 lanes to the shoulder! Then I too had to wait for my girlfiend to bring me her AAA card to get my tire changed since I had the spare, but no jack. Real bad road to broken down on in the dark!

BTW, dont the stadium look sweet right by the side of 95!!

Oh ****s...

That also happend to me the day I took my Lightning Home. Same wheel ( right front ). I was also on a busy interstate at night when I noticed the truck pulling to the right. I thought to my self....I know that it was not pulling when I test drove it...sure enough about five min. later the tire blew...Scared the crap out of me. I though the motor fell out! I drove across the lane into the shoulder but the wheel was tost. The only thing left was the side walls. I truly beleive that GOD was looking out for me! It could have been bad! I did have all my stuff to change the tire. Only thing missing was a flash light, now I have two.

I had two of the F1s blow out, and decided to change brands.

What is really suprising to me is how stable the L is with a flat front tire. My last blowout was really nasty, with the tire thumping the fenderwell like a NASCAR wreck( it didn't help that it happened at 80+). My major concern was not about keeping control, but trying to minimize the damage the tire was doing. A guy riding behind me said it started smoking about 5 seconds before it blew with a white cloud.

I've ordered tires online through both Tirerack and Discount Tires, and they both had excellent prices and service....just take your pick, and they'll get it to you quick.
