Arrow I raced THE EXACT SRT-10 that set the world record at the track friday....interesting

I went to the track this past Friday. There was a Dodge day or something there. There were at least 3 Vipers and maybe a dozen SRT-4s. AND there was the SRT-10 ViperTruck. The actual one that was used to break the Guiness World Record for Top Speed (pickup). Well my truck being basically stock (I have added a conestyle K&N filter) I figured here is the Golden opertunity to see Which of these trucks is in fact the Quater Champion. Now those of you saying to yourselves -I know you added a ram-air hood too- let me say to you that it isn't functional yet as I haven't sealed the system so that the airbox gets pressurized. Anyway it was 70degrees and there was a fair bit of humidity (~65%), about a typical South Louisiana day. My truck had been running anywhere from 13.51 to 13.63 on this night. So the SRT-10 makes it way into the staging lanes for a pass in the left lane and I quickly got next to it for a pass in the right lane. The Gods must have been smiling on us as it worked out perfectly and we were set to race each other. This was a heads up contest because eliminations hadn't started for the bracket racing yet and we were running a time trial style pass. So we staged and the lights came down. And we both left the line without incident. I looked up and saw that the ViperTruck got a better reaction off the light than I had (he cut a .023 to my .041 light). I still pulled a considerable lead on him as I knew I would have to because those trucks should trap much higher than me. Well at the finish line the race was too close for me to tell. I mean our trucks were literally in a dead tie (to the eye). Then I saw that he had the win light!!! "FUCH!!!!!" I said. Then when I got my time slip I saw that my truck ran its worste pass of the night at 13.738 but still out ET'd his 13.750:headbang: . His RT is what gave him the win not his SRT:wink: . I felt so much better about this race now. I also cut my worste 60' foot of the night on that pass too with a 2.063 after cutting 1.97's and 1.98's all night. I guess I may have been a little anxious and overcompensated for that. Any way the results were that the Lightning was the quicker Truck:headbang: but the SRT driver cut a better light.

My hats off the Dodge guys as they were very nice and good sports. The fellow driving the SRT-10 didn't have a problem showing everyone the truck and talking about it to us. I was pleased with the night.

The SRT that made the record setting run wasn't a viper Ram, it was red.

Edit, I'm sorry, I thought you were saying it was one of the VCA Rams...my bad..

NICE RUN Nasty Wendy
AWESOME RESULTS

I don't even try to cut a quick light, so the final ET is all
that matters to me.
YOU MADE THE L COMMUNITY PROUD WENDY, WAY TO GO....
and you got the Dodge boys wondering why they didn't save
15-20K

Oh Well I GUESS I WON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS should I run into that Dodge

Nice job Nasty. Iam sure if you had to do it again, you would have snatched the win light!

You mean if you had run the dodge on that run.
What I mean is, you run that time before and after, right?

Thanks guys. I do believe that I would have beat him if I was able to line up against him again. Everything was so close that when I saw him get the win light I thought he had run a quicker ET than me. I was really down on myself for letting the Lightning community down. When I got the time slip and saw that it was reaction time that made the difference I felt MUCH better. But what gets me was that my truck decided to run its slowest time of the night when it counted the most. I dialed in at 13.58 for the bracket racing and on my first race I picked up a Silverado at the end of the track that had dialed in at 15.48, I lifted and coasted across the line at 97mph after trapping at 101 all night, and I broke out with a 13.569. Why couldn't it have run that strong against the SRT-10? I only trapped at 99.85mph on the race against the SRT...that was my worste trap speed all night as well. The SRT trapped at 104.01.

Thumbs up

Nice run, even if you didn't get the win. That's why we have to race them instead of comparing magazine articles.

Nasty Wendy,

Don't get down on yourself. You had the faster truck. You know it and so does that SRT owner. You're a good rep for the Lightning Community. You will get another chance to Rock that SRT....
