Ordering some mods today have ?

Im ordering some mods for the stock 03 I bought yesterday.

So far:

MGW billet stuff (Aod, turn, tilt, ac *****)
01 Leaf springs (Thanks TWISTED99)
FRPP 1/2 drop

My question is regarding an open element air filter (not cold air).
Seems all the vendors are about the same price ($150 - $200) but REM's is $99.00.

Whats the difference?

Until they finish building my new house (November) the mods to the truck are going to have to be conservitve and economical. (no chip, no pulley, no exhaust) so I am hunting the best prices and values I can.

Same yourself some $$$ for other mods and mod your stock airbox w/ drop-in K&N. Better performance, lower price...

Since Mr. Tompkins will be running factory boost levels, a drilled stock airbox w/ kn IS the better choice.

It will also perform better than an open element.

look at the facts then type.

Well I dont want to spend money Twice either, After the wedding and the house gets done (looks like there gonna fall one right after the other the gloves are coming off).

The open element filter on my 01L was the real first mod and was happy as hell with it, I just dont get why some vendors want twice as much for what appears to be a similar product?

The same open filter made me 407 / 515 on a real conservative tune on my 01. I dont realy care at this point in the game (stock boost) wheather its going to hurt me or not, I know it will pay off later when I start doing all the other stuff.

K&N filter is $38 shipped, so it's not like you are spending a lot of money to do the stock mod when you might want an open filter down the road. You can probably turn that K&N used for $20 and barely have any loss..

Yes it will work, but I prefer to not modify my stock box. I got a open filter from Metco.
