Any NEW Predator feedback???

I am seriously considering going this route. I am tired of driving an hour to get dynoed, spending $$$ and finding out I need a reburn on my chip. Then I have to turn around, spend $$$ again to ship my chip back for a reburn, and then turn around again and get dynoed.

Dynos would be alot more productive if I could tweak some parameters while I was there. And the Predator would eliminate shipping chips back for reburns as the tunes can be emailed. So I am seriously considering getting one or a dyno installed in my garage

Haven't heard alot since they were released. Are people seeing the same gains as chips? How difficult are they to use for the average Joe?

i still havent got to a dyno yet (procrastination at its best), but im working on it. all i can tell you is that is was really easy for me to use...plugged it in and it told you exactly what to do. after it told you what to do it ususally only gave you one option "ok", so theres not much room for error. hope that helps

Really easy to use, no problem where the power is concerned.

I'm enjoying mine....easy enough to use.....datalogging is fun--you get an idea of what's going on in the engine...and now I'm on my 3rd custom tune. It is pretty neat downloading your stock file, e-mail it to a tuner, they write you a custom file, e-mail it back (time varies by tuner!), download to Predator, plug it in& let it write to truck.... go leave even longer blackmarks. Weeeeeeeee!

fractaldragon,
sorry for the time delay--I had to go shopping (but now I have an electric chainsaw-on-a-stick that I can extend out about 10 ft. No more leaves/sticks/etc. in the gutters!!!)

Now, back to the Predator. Your question about gains--I haven't been to a dyno yet (#'s?)--but all I can say is "WOW"(SOTP). The thing just plain acts now like I wish it had all along. If you're sitting still-or even rolling up to about 15-20 and nail it-HOLD ON! Theres's going to be serious spinning involved. Quick gear changes--chirping/spins. Let off the gas from cruising, you hear cool sounds----blu-blu---blubblub--blub--bluuu-blubbb
(fuel mixture? timing??) I would say the gains have to be the same as a chip--just a different way of delivering the info to the computer. BTW, the record so far for me, is 1 DAY-- from when I first e-mailed a tuner, until I had a new program in the truck!

As for difficulty, anyone that's ever loaded a program on a computer, or can control a DVD, VCR, and a TV with a remote, can use the Predator to full effect. Either get with Sal or TommyLightning (I didn't start there unfortunately) and get power and serial cables WITH the Predator, or borrow a serial cable from the computer guy at work, and then go around the house and unplug all the telephones, answering machines, portable TVs, battery rechargers until you find one that is the right voltage AND has the proper plug on it. (My wife's still mad at me for resetting every electric appliance in the house while I was on my search!)

Hope this helps!
And, PS: For me, the stock program was dangerous. Detonation city. New custom program---- (Thanks TommyLightning!)

I'm still happy with mine. The stock predator tunes worked fine here at 5,500 ft altitude, not too agressive. As above, datalogging is great tool. I have two custom tunes, street and race. Street works great, haven't gotten to use the race yet.

I like mine, and for the occasional freelance tuner, you can adjust a few things.

That's what I was thinking too. So it works as well as a chip then...

I just don't want to mess anything up

Dangit Spanky---now even the number of tunes one owns is a contest......

OK, it only took me 3 to get it right!

(Plus you have to allow me some, I've only been in the mod game since App., Dec.1---so that's like one a month!

What about NOS? How do you run your performance set up on the street and then take it to a track and run the gas on it? Will the predator allow for enough tolerance to adjust for a 75 shot? If not, I am sticking with the flip chip.

Gotta have a little gas at the track for quicker ets.
