I just fired my mechanic who was removing my supercharger for porting. I have told him many times to keep his hands clean and do not wear belt when working on my truck grease is hard to remove i wear these thin rubber gloves i stole from my dentist. it is a good thing Rob give me step by step instructions on supercharger removeal and reinstall my mechanic as he was leaving and getting his tools he told me where i could go. I told him i would kick his *** no other comment was made by him i have now cooled down/

I completly understand your frustration. A friend of mine has been to the body shop 3-4 times because of belt related knicks when different work was being done, by different people. They just dont get it sometimes.

Your much better off doing it yourself, it'll get done right.
Lets face it, no local mechanic has enough working time with a L to know anything about it, Your much better off doing it, AND PROB MORE QUALIFIED. Unfortunatly there are tens of thousand of grease monkeys out there that have no clue how to treat a customers car. Finding a top quality shop and clean mechanic is far and between these days.

I hate nothing more than their grease all over my car, greasy foot prints on my Mats, seats moved, and radio stations changed.
I BROUGHT MY FRIGGING CAR IN FOR SERVICE NOT FOR HIM TO
MOVE INTO

That's why I wear sweatpants whenever I work on something. I may not look as pretty as the guy with the uniform pants and spiffy color keyed shirts, but I have no snaps/buttons/buckles etc to scratch anyones vehicle .

I personally take offense to "Stupid Grease Monkeys". I am a mechanic, and take pride in my work. I treat customers cars like I treat my own. Paper floor mats, seat cover, clean hands... when ever entering a customers vehicle. I (as most mechanics that I know) wear a special belt, that has no metal in front. Fender cover if working on engine from the side. As far as radio stations.... sorry im guilty. Cant stand lisening to "sounds of the 30's, country, ect.. If im on a long test drive, it gets changed, but 90% of the time, I change it back to what it was. Seats???? Sorry, but if six foot five Bob comes in, and wants me to safely drive his 50k 740IL, my five foot seven **** needs to reach the brake pedal, but again, I try to remember to put it back. So if you dont mind, keep the stereotype name calling to a minimum.

Just FYI, superford's comment was a joke, as he himself is a dealer tech and was poking fun at the whole thing.

I often wear my wife's undies when I'm out working on the truck, or mowing the yard, or just kicked back in the hammock looking at the neighbor babe out in her pool slowly ...wait a minute....what board is this?? Oh crap!...............my bad!

Sorry for my anger, just tired of reading about how mechanics are dirty, stupid hicks that take no pride in what they do. I knew that he was a tech, just slipped my mind. Must be the anger

Hope no body's mis took the way I used the word Grease Monkey.
It's a term, we all have heard it a thousand times before.
AND BTW I Graduated Trade School with a NY State Inspectors Licence and a Diploma in Auto Mechanic's, so I also have a little clue on what goes on in SOME of these shops, and there is a HUGE diff between a mechanic and a grease monkey.

Like I said a good clean mechanice is far and between these days, but there are great ones out there, and they're worth their weight in gold. Unfortunatly there are also thousands of totally unqualified Grease Monkeys (YA I SAID IT AGAIN ) out there who have no respect for the customers car.

I had my headers ripped off a BB Camaro at a shop cause some ******* wasn't paying attention, I had my 440 Mag Cuda stripped to the bare bone at another shop cause some ******* left it out WHEN HE AGREED HE WOULDN'T, I had the windshield busted, radio stolen, and the seats jacked from my RX Turbo at another shop cause once again they lied about where they were leaving it. I've also had tickets and warrants for my arrest issued that I traced back to an ******* mechanic that was out driving around in my car, got tickets and never payed them.

I'm sure there are lots of great mechanics right here in our Family,
please don't get affended by anyting I said. Just like there's thousands of bad cops, bad lawyers, and bad saleman, there's bad mechanics, and unfortunatly lots do dis-respect the customers cars, THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU DO
