FTVB seems to have fixed my Shift Point Probs

Ya I know I been bitching and moaning for a while about it
smoking the tires through the 1-2 shift even at 1/4-1/2 throttle,
but I noticed something tonight.

Number 1- I've been driving on the Nitrous Program
(SUPER LOW TIMING @ 16 degrees )
since I put it in because it's SUPER COLD, and they took Ultra 94 away from us recently, (so I wanted to be safe a while)

Last night I FINALLY decided to switched back to the 18 Degree Timing and tonight immediatly noticed the shifts aren't as hard, especially going slow. Apparantly, my Nitrous Program DOES
have some tranny tweaking in it, oops.........

But more importantly what I noticed tonight after beating the ever living schitt out of it a hundred times was, it's shifting at 5500 RPM AND NOT PINNING THE TACH ANYMORE
This was the ONLY reason I did this Mod and it seems to have corrected my problem, AT LEAST SO FAR AS FAR AS I CAN SEE.
This I am extremly happy about

I've heard enough from you guys to realize I will get some traction back in the heat, so the only thing I continue to dislike is feel of switching in and out of the overdrive button (I've heard many of you complain about that) but I happen to do it alot.
and also if your WOT and have to jump off it suddenly, (like I had to tonight) and it happens to be right before a shift, WAM that sob bangs really hard and feels like the tranny is coming out, me no likey that AT ALL. I've heard some of you mention this too

But overall, if this thing gets my L to shift where it suppose to
(10 programs, 2 chips, and 3 tuners haven't been able to do it)
THEN IT'S GOT MY SEAL OF APPROVAL on that alone
I love the positive shifts, don't read me wrong, it's having to get OFF the pedal when it hits 2nd because it goes out of control that drives me crazy. I hate stopping a good WOT, and never had to do that with the stock VB. And no matter what anyone tells me,
I still DO NOT see how that type of shifting saves a tranny ???
I guess idling around town it's fine, but anything 1/4 throttle or more, you better be ready to do some serious adjusting when 2nd gear comes around, and I got to assume all the Hi RPM Spinning is not cooling down the tranny and saving it's life ???

DID I EVER MENTION I FRIGGING HATE WINTER AND COLD ROADS

Tonight after killing it a while the tires were like glue,
I did a few Launches trying diff things (nothing worked)
but I did FINALLY get the tires warm enough to Bark 3rd, and even hear a little barking over the spinning during the 1-2 shift.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR WARMER WEATHER, this FTVB is gonne be fun

FU Vinnie, FU ALL OF YOU
If you don't want me around here just say it
(not that I'll leave anyway, I'll just annoy all of you forever)

BTW
There was a dam good point in there somewhere, (somewhere ?)
and it was,
even know there is a few things I don't like about the characteristics of a hard shifting VB,
it seems to have stopped my 6000 RPM shifts
WHICH IS AWESOME and I'd buy it again just for that

You didn't know Rob use to write for the Seinfeld show?

Didn't I tell everybody his posts about the FTVB would equal the number of posts that he made about timing?

The things you have described can be cleaned up in the program. Give your tuner a call and they will take care fo you.

The reason it is shifting at 5500 is the time it takes the shift to occur are lot tighter now, and it's not stretching the shift out over 300 or so RPMs. I tune to about 2.5 ms accuracy, bone stock the spec is within 20ms.

Another thing I llike about the FTVB--- my truck doesn't glide/ease/slide/mush into (torque converter) lock-up like it used to.
Since it was new---it seem to s...l..o..w..l..y lock-up, but now, click. I shouldn't have driven it 3 years before buying the v.b. (or the pulley, or the RamAir, or the SilverB,or .......)

Rob,

I too just had the FTVB installed (yesterday) for the same reason.
My L was shifting at 5900-6000 coming out of first. I questioned my tuner's settings. He suggested that my clutch plates were possibly wearing out and that he would raise line pressure. I added the valve body instead, and have had similar results (so far). I'm shifting at 5300 (a little early), but I feel good about that right now, as I also drive in the cold weather, and with queer Dunlop snow tires. Just thought you'd like to know you're not the only one!
