Who's running an 8# Lower???

It's been a long time since I've posted a question here of any kind. I hope you’ll take the time to read this and respond.

I've done extensive searches on this board and others for the past month or so looking for postings which describe successful use of a 8# lower pulley. This subject isn’t discussed often. Anyone out there willing to admit that provided with the right circumstances this can be successfully implemented on a daily driver. I understand the diminishing returns of an 8psi pulley versus a 6psig pulley - just wanted to hear from you adventurous guys out there running an 8# on stock bottom. I seem to recall some say that if you want 8#’s more, run a 6# lower and a 2# upper. Why would that be? Any other comments you would like to share?

Thanks for you time!

I am running a 8 lower now but I only upped to the 8 when I put LT's on. I was running a 6 lower with a 2.70 upper with zero problems. The 8 seems a little stronger on the bottom but little difference up top. And since the addition of the ported SC the whole power band got a little better, personally I would not use the 8 without LT's and some kind of SC upgrade. JMO!!

I bought a JLP 8 lber from a fellow L owner months ago, but I have no plans to use it until my lower is built this year. I am pushing my stock rods now at 16lbs and the KB.

Thanks for the comments.

The Eaton will be upgraded with Apten’s magic blown on it. An extensive search suggests TR6’s or IT22’s would be the right choice for plugs – I plan on using the TR6’s. Care to share what kind of timing you all are running?

Is everyone sold on the Cobra ’03 PCV solution for eliminating oil consumption?

Joel….

I use the TR-55's but I like a rougher idle and they really clear up nice. I also use the Cobra PCV and dual seperators...You can never be toooo careful!!
