Question what do you launch at

I was just wondering what RPM you guys are launching at?????

do you hit it from idle
slightly above idle
or something else.

i would assume this would change for stock torque converters verses a stall converter, so please tell me if you are stock or have a stall.

thanks

I launch just above idle, somewhere between 900-1100 rpm.

It depends on the track prep. Anywhere from 1600 to 2400 RPM's.

I use slicks and have an Art Carr 2400 stall convertor.

Launch

As the others have already posted, track prep is big on this subject. I launch at 2200 RPM with a PI converter on Hoosier slicks most of the time and get 1.61 60 ft. John H

on stock F1's

I launch from a dead idle (foot OFF the gas)
roll into it the first millaseconds then stand up, scream like some wild animal and with everything you have mash the pedal
to the floor. Keeping mashing and mashing as hard as you can until you break through the floor board. When you start to feel the track burning a hole in your shoes you know it's floored. You just have to hope your at the end or you'll get a nasty burn because you can't let up until it's over.

I believe that should do it

Funny!!

I've tried everything from leaving at idle up to 1200rpm. Leaving from idle seems to be the most predictable. I've only gotten 1.9's on F1's, but that was also not on a very well prepped track.

Forgot.
Warm the F1's up a little bit. No major smoky burnout but a few seconds makes a difference. I can cut 1.8's consistantly
using the type of launch I mentiones above.

If I dont warm them up I can't get a 1.8.
