Question Boost guage install, need help.

I just got a Autometer boost guage and a steering wheel mounted gauge pod. I know how to hook it into the vacume lines but I don't know where to connected it for the lights. Where is the 12V dash lighing wire and where do I need to ground it at(the gauge that is)?

Also, how do I get the stock steering wheel cover off? Do I just rip it off or is there some fanzy trick to it?

Thanks for any help.

The coolest way to do it is to pop out the headlight switch, and using a 12v test light, find the dimmer wire, and make the connection to that one...This way, the guage will always be as bright as the dash, and dim with it, then just ground to any metal under the dash...Look under the steering column for the scres that hold the cover on....

Just splice into the wires for the light in the cup holder. They're easy to find and it will still dim with the rest of your lights.

There is a vacuum line just under the dash.Just get a t fitting and plug in the vacuum hose..I have the mount resting on the stock steering wheel spot without velcro and it does not move at all. On the light wire just go to your fuse box on the side and find the light circuit..

I taped mine into the wire on the dimmer switch. This way the wire didnt have far to run. I taped into the 30amp (green) fuse in the fuse box for power since my gauge is electric. I bought a tee and T'd in under the dashg and mounted my MAP sensor above it on the frame so it is upside down like the instructions say. The cover should go on without removing the stock one, I know mine (autometer) did and i just used the double sided tape to mount it no screws. If you went with a Phantom series then heres a tip, take a blue sharpie and color a X on the tip of the bulb with it then put the green sock on the bulb. Hope this helps if any pics are needed let me know and ill get you some.

I hate when I post a thread and then suddenly leave for work. Oh well.

I got the Lunar Series Autometer gauge. So, the steering wheel pod just fits over the stock one huh. I would of never thought of that and the instructions don't saying anything about it.

Now, Im real stupid when it comes to wiring so if someone can give me real good tips on powering the guage that will be great.

Thanks

BTW, I also got a EGR gauge, how fun is that installing?

POP OUT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND LOCATE THE FAT RED WIRE WITH YELLOW TRACER. TAP SPLICE THE WHITE WIRE FROM YOUR GAUGE ONTO THE RED WIRE AND BE DONE WITH IT!
