Is there a difference between jack brands?

Torino (PepBoys) vs. PowerBuilt (Kragen/Autozone)?

Thanks.

Go to Sears and get the Alum. jack. It works great on a lowered truck (I still use my Rhino ramps to get started). It's $161.00 when they put it on sale and only weighs around 35 lbs. I don't use my old heavy jack at all anymore.

Would that be the 2-ton jack? Is the 2-ton sufficient? I was told my many others that a 3-ton is a must.

Thanks Jerry.

Just my $0.02, go to a garage service supply and check out the selection. The place I went to had a huge range all the way from el-cheapo to the really nice Lincolns (even the lower end Lincolns are imported now). If you plan to use it a lot, just make sure that parts are available for them. Jet has a nice dealer network.

Just about all of them are made in China nowadays, some are better than others. I have a Jet 2-1/4 ton wide-footed steel service jack. Works great. I just rebuilt it after 6 years of use. Rebuild kit was about $10.

3000 pounds should do it ...

I got one that looks a LOT like this one at Harbor Freight
and it cost me $160 ... I think it was 2 1/2 ton though.

SEARS has this one ... at least it's a CRAFTSMEN, but check to
see on the warranty, seems lately the only they warranty for
life anymore is the tools.

I stand corrected. The Sears jack is 4000 lbs.

This is the jack I've got, works great on lowered trucks. It lowers very slow as well.
