What would you do?

First of all, I have wanted a Lighting since they came out. I should be in position to purchase one in the next year or so. Would you buy a used and low miles Gen 2, a new Gen 2 or hold out for the surely more expensive Gen 3?

Buy my old one, 03 Sonic Blue 25,000 Km's on it. It has a extensive service history but the bugs may be worked out of it. Call 1-800-661-1210 Metro Ford in Calgary alberta ask for Andy P or Jonny L. I' am droping it off there probily Wednesday. The will give you a sweet deal on it they got it from me for ****** All I just am jumping into a 04 Dark Shadow Grey.

The 03 is only 8 or so months old. It is a good deal. Look at the differences in our dollar, you will come out smelling like a rose.

I was going to wait for a Gen III, but after seeing the concept, I love the body lines of the Gen II alot more. All personal preference. Then Gen II already has a huge aftermarket following as well

Guess I will wait and see what the new one looks like and how much it costs.

I will be able to afford a new one. I have heard there are some problems with the motor. Anyone have any info on these problems and if they have been fixed?

New one???????

Like the 03-04 or the gen 3?

What kind of problems with the motor?

That is about the only thing that hasn't blown on mine. Everything else has been replaced. Just as well say mine is a 04

Depending on the price of the Gen 3, I could afford one. The thing is I don't think any truck is worth $45,000. I have heard they are shooting rods and sparkplugs. I have also read some stuff on some knocking.

think your confused. no 03 or 04 is going to hit 45,000 or have engine problems. the 06 Might hit 45,000 but they are not even out yet so there cant be any problems with them......

Read the post genius. I have heard about engine problems with the Gen 2 and the Gen 3 will likely push $45,000.

I posted the motor problems witht the Gen 2's with the likely price of the Gen 3 with the assumption that since the Gen 3 isn't even out, noone would get confused.

It did read as if you were talking about a Gen 3 having motor problems and costing $45k. I bought my L because I don’t really care for the looks of the Gen 3 and no way could I afford something in the $40k range…

I can see how someone would think that, but again, it hasn't even been made yet! I think I am in your boat. I can't see spending $45,000 on a truck. Maybe after mods, but not off the lot!

I can't see spending that much either. I could get a gen 2 right now if I wanted, but that would mean payments... and I don't need that. I'd rather keep my gen 1 and eventually make it faster. I have a separate bank account just for my truck, which I keep adding to.... But before I go crazy modding the hell out of my truck I'd like to pay off my credit cards (almost there), and get my own place. That's more important than having a fast truck, in my opinion.
