SC rotors

Been waiting for this topic to get covered but not seeing anything.

With all this wasp and SC porting it has me thinking about doing something myself.

Doesn't do much good to throw mods at something if the rest isn't in top shape. Everything works together, doesn' t help your gains in one spot if your weak in another.

When I did my intercooler upgrade I saw the teflon flaking on my 99 L . I read some stuff about a black coating and from time to time people comment on wether there rotors are in good shape or not.

Other than clogging my intercooler will that stuff burn up and go out the exhaust?

Do any of these porting people address this?

Does it get progressively worse or just what?

Is it just the early Eatons that did this?

I would like to get the whole poop on this. Any reference to links would be great.
Thanks

You are noticing the teflon flaking off your rotors and clogging your innercooler.

You have a few options:
1. purchase graphite rotors (contact APTEN)(Big $$$$$)
2. Apten can have them re-coated with something (don't think it is teflon)

Does it hurt efficiency? I don't know about the Blower, but clogging the innercooler is BAD NEWS.

Luckily my Eaton is NOT flaking. But it's a '99 with low mileage though.

I would contact Brian at Apten (his shop is authorized by Eaton to service this blower)(No one else is) and he can give you infintely precise information regarding the flaking teflon

From: Colorado,
Thanks!
Mine has 35K miles.
How do you know yours is ok?
Can you see it without pulling the whole top?

Anyone else have any experience on this? Would love to know all my options.

Are you sure? The last time I checked only Magnusson was autorized to service Eaton blowers...Maybe I'll call them(Magnusson) Monday just to make sure...they may be interested to know someone else claims to be an authorized service center.

We never claimed to be eaton "authorized". Magnuson has an exclusive deal on that, so eaton will not authorize anyone else to do rebuilds. We do rebuild eatons because we have found a source for OEM parts.

GREAT TOPIC EZ

For all you people that have been disagreeing with Chuck over this, LOOK AND LEARN

My Rotors are the Graphite Color ones (still have ALL the teflon)
The other Rotor's are from V's 01 Eaton running 8lbs of Pulley

After seeing them is the reason I pulled my Nose and Rotors and put my orig nose and Rotors in my WASP (which was actually V's old Eaton I sent out to WES)

Does him running 8lbs have something to do with the flaking,
probably, maybe, who knows??? but ANYTHING MORE THAN 4 (or maybe 5/6 LBS) AND YOU ARE CLEARLY OVER TURNING AND OVERHEATING THE EATON Schitt in my L, you guys know I run faster with 4lbs than 6 because of the extra heat, I've proved that over and over season after season with better 4lb ET's to show it.

This is the MAIN REASON I choose porting, so I can go back to 4lbs and have more power than running 6lbs, and have the same or more boost, and with less heat in the S/C
AND MOTOR

Since V isn't using these Rotors anymore, hopefully he don't
mind me showing them to you (he will, but FU V, I'm showing them anyway) hehehehe

NO SUCH THING AS OVER TURNING AN EATON HU ???????????

Did it affect performance for him, --> NO
He was running consistant 11's for 2 seasons right up til he
decided to go built motor/kb, but ones got to assume the S/C
IS NOT the only part of the motor showing excessive and premature wear due to the extra heat. I've spend much time with 3 filter systems and now the JLP air box to assure the coolest air
enters my S/C (of course spraying sub zero Nitrous helps too)

My original Rotors were as good as the day they were born, and are now back in my Wasp and back on my Black Beast

Well, does anyone have any pics of the intercooler, or s/c rotor pack on a stock truck? I have 12,500 (starting to notice the "clunk" but that is another topic) on my 03, and I am wondering if I need to yank the s/c, and clean the i/c. I am running the stock drives, no upgraded pulleys, but I also haven't got the pcv mod yet. Suggestions?
