Smile I Got My New L

I finally got my L today, I love it. How do I post a pic so I can show off my new pride and joy...

Also my buddie was behind me when I was driving it home and said it blew a little smoke for like a sec when I was at WOT and then stopped, is this normal . It only did it when I would floor it, other than that it drove fine - about a 200 mile drive home.

Congats on the new "L"...

Don't worry about the puff at WOT these trucks all do it. It's due to a pig rich tune to save your motor under boost.

Open a gallery here on this site and you will be able to post pictures from it..

Congrats again and enjoy the ride.

thanks....she's a real beauty, glad to know that puff is normal. I din't really think it was a big deal, also my crank pulley is blue anyway to tell what size it is.

Congrats on getting the Lightning. I bought mine a few weeks ago 2/2/04 and I have to say you have much bigger ***** then me because I haven’t got into it at all yet. It has approx. 450 miles on it and I am going to wait until at least a 1,000 miles before WOT…

You will absolutely love this truck, I think mine is unbelievable and I haven’t sunk my foot in the peddle YET, man that will bring some serious wood…

You are right about the *****. You should ask your wife for them back. What the heck are you waiting for? Why wait for 1000, why not 1100 or 1200? Just drive the thing would you. Make sure it is sufficiently warmed up and give it a stab once in a while, unless you really don't have any and are scared.

Seriously, some people are so overly **** about a truck. It is not a exotic car, it doesn't cost more than your house ( I hope) nor is an L extremely rare. Go out and enjoy your hard work.

No wife ”Thank God I am divorced”, thus they are attached and mine ALL MINE…

I would be one of those that you refer to as **** about my truck, any vehicle I have owned I have been **** about 4-banger, my 4.2 V6, now this new Lightning.

I am **** about the interior and well as exterior and taking good care of it. This is probably one of the most expensive vehicles I have ever owned but that has no bearing on how I will treat it, it will get treated like all others in the past, as if it was worth $100k

Being around racing for a good part of my life I can tell you that when you buy any new vehicle that the motors are not broke in, they are not completely seated properly and the break in is very important for the longevity of the motor.

Granted it may take 200 miles or it could take 800 miles. I pick 1,000 miles as a good reference point and safety margin. Of course for proper break in you don’t want to drive like some 95 year old, you want to vary the rpm’s and get on it now and then but not WOT. That just don’t make much sense especially for the rings.

Now I could be wrong, but if I am wrong I have not harmed the motor in my caution and have helped to insure myself many years of trouble free operation. Sometimes it takes more ***** to wait it out then to rush right in…

I finally got a hold of the past owner and he says it is a 6lb but if I were to measure it, does the length in inches represent the lb?

Not trying to argue, but your method will not insure years of trouble free operation. All it is insuring is your peace of mind. Good luck, but it is a shame you are missing out on so much fun.
