Question Stereo installers..Head unit?

Car installers, help?
Pioneer DEH-P77DH GM/Chrysler-Fit CD

This is a din & 1\2 unit. Anyone know if this will fit in our trucks.

I am thinking or hoping it will fit right in like a stock fit.

Thanks,

Edit: I thought it was a double din, but I might be wrong.

Be careful on that. Last time I looked (which was not recently), our factory radios are not actually double din, they're some freakish size just short of double. I thought I remember hearing that Ford is the only domestic maker to not follow the 'din' standard.

Like I said, my info may not be accurate, but just check before you buy a double din replacement.

I know that 2001 modules have the double din outer part, but in order to make a double din fit you would have remove a bracket. Not complicated, but it is custom.

Looks like a 1 1/2 din should fit though (on an 01'), probably tight.

Any size is doable, it's just a matter of how much work you want to do.

FWIW, Crutchfield can be very very helpful on what to install in what, and they will send you diagrams and run you through installations on the phone..

It helps if you buy something from them though..

Great company.

I just replaced my factory system with an alpine system and i dont think its a double size factory deck. On the outside it appears to be large but the rest of it steps down halfway through the lenth. By the way it was a pain in the **** getting the old deck out, i suggest finding a wire coat hanger and cutting it into 4 pieces then insert into the holes and pull like hell on one side then the other with the instrument cluster surround removed.

As someone who has installed car stereos for quite a while, I will tell you that making that Chrysler/GM size stereo fit is going to be a pain and not worth it. Unless you are really into this unit, I wouldn't bother. Just my two cents of course.

Thanks for the input. I guess I will go with a single din and with something that will play MP3's.

This is driving me crazy!!!

I can afford a H\U,amp and door speakers and either 2 back or 1 sub. I am just afraid tha 2 doors and a sub wont cut it?

What do you all think about this setup?

MTX TS82 $129.99
8" 2-way Truck Box Speakers
2 truck boxes • 8" woofers • horn-loaded tweeters • ported box

Panasonic CQ-DP383U
CD/MP3/WMA Receiver
Special Purchase: Save $50! Was $179.99, Now: $129.99

Pioneer TS-A6870R $79.99
6"x8" 3-way Speakers

Lanzar 4x100w $100
or
Rockford 60wx4 for $129
