Dam WRX

So on the way home from work, low 30's trucks ice cold
(and of course the F-1's are too)
I'm maybe a 1/2 block from work, about to turn left onto
495 (LIE). Two turning lanes, I'm the 1st car in the right lane.
Open my window to throw a butt out and I here,
how do you like driving that thing, WRX next to me,
he had the pass window down, nice guy, we talked a few minutes waiting for the light to turn.

He's telling me how it's the best thing he ever bought, bla bla bla (actually made we wonder why I didn't just buy one, would have been a decent choice for a 2nd new car, oh well) anyway
So he makes a remark (in a nice way) of how that thing (The L)
is almost as fast as his WRX, I point to the back window and mention last time out it ran an 11.81, he kinda just went

Of course I had absolutely no intention to race in the low 30's,
dam near took out Chim last time I tried that. So the light turns green and I say nice talking wave and shut the window,
we cross over the intersection, make our 90 degree left onto the
Service Rd were crusing towards the entrance ramp, neither one of us is doing anything other than driving normal, and I'm maybe doing 40 MPH by now. I figure I'll give it a little gas and get up to prky speed for the ramp, I push down to maybe 1/3 - 1/2 throttle and the SOB down shifts into first ever so gently and goes totally 100% sideways.
Dam near killed myself (@$#%)@$%@)%$)%$)%$)$%)$%*)$

Since I was crossing his path to enter the ramp and now kicked the rear totally sideways, I had to totally get off it and of course straighten out. He did the usual and typical ricer move, cause all of a sudden that sucker looked like a Propane Diesel, WTF ???
it let out the hugest cloud of smoke I ever saw in my life.
WHATS THATS ABOUT, is this common for Turbo's in cold temps ?

Either way, Schitty ending I know,
but thats the truth, AND I'M STICKING TO IT
I truly find no fun at all driving the L in these BS Temps,
but I am glad to at least idle around the neighborhood at 1200 RPM and get the Batt Charged.

Unfortunatly, it's suppose to be in the 20's this weekend so
I guess there will be no S/C swaping YET..

most turbo cars run rich when they dump boost upon a shift, thats what causes the black puff

This was ALOT of smoke, I don't remember that problem
with my Subura RX Turbo ? but that was many many years ago and turbo's were crap and under developed back then, AMOF
I went through 4 or 5 Turbo's in the Suburu and also 3 complete motors . Believe it or not, they even gave me back my original motors in wodden crates, and I remember having at least 3 dead Turbo's with thousands of heat cracks in my parents garage.
As for the Motors same problem, heat cracks in the heads and block everywhere, there was just too much motor temp change
happening constantly and they prob didn't even have intercoolers back then ??? I eventually gave the car away for free to my brother and had him make the payments the last few years.

Hey Wes, cant wait to see what happens with your WASP
if I have no traction now
