I just spoke with Magnaflow and they told me...

I told them I bought the Borla and do not like the sound at WOT and asked if they sell only the muffler off their cat back system for the L so I can cut up the Borla and install the Magnaflow muffler.

He told me 12468 (Alum) and 14468 (SS) are exactly what come on the cat back they offer.

I told him I heard that the cat back they have has a unique muffler but he mentioned its a 2 in 2 out with x core and insisted it is exactly the same as their cat back system.

My exact words: "So this should be pretty close as to what comes on your cat back"

His exact words: "It is exactly the same muffler that comes on our cat back"

What are your thoughts?

The guy from my muffler shop checked on this and he was told that you can't get the muffler with the x-pipe unless you go cat back. If you can I'm going to be pissed. I think the Maggy sounds awesome, but you sure pay allot for just a muffler and the exit pipes.

Mart you can get the muffler alone with the x-pipe. Parts number 12468 and 14468 have the x pipe.

From what I see most people with L's go with 12568 or 14568 which is bigger and also does not have the X pipe design.

Go to Magnaflows site and sheck out the numbers I posted above to see.

I have had the MagnaFlow 12468 muffler installed for about 4 years no problems. It is really a beautiful muffler nice welds and you can see right thru it and before installed you could see the built in X pipe. The muffler seems to be getting louder with age. I really haven't felt any more extra power from the muffler just a little more noise when I press the gas petal. The best thing about it you don't have any irrating noise in the cab at any speeds like my Flowmaster mufflers had. I paid $127. for just the muffler and $50. for the installation and 2 -2 1/2 pipes from the muffler to my stock tips.

They use a 14468 on the catback. They do modify the ends a bit to fit the truck. One inlet is about an inch shorter and both are split so clamps will work. The exit is flush begining with tail pipes. I use 14468's daily on L's..
