85-90MPH Loss of power??

Hey guys.....

I need some advice from the experts......My problem is that the last time I went to the track my truck seemed like it lost power at the end of the track at around 90 MPH.....I had a thread back in November about it and we all pretty much decided that due to the 85 degree temps and my 6lb pulley that the eaton was just creating too much heat and causing the computer to take out timing.........So I am getting ready to purchase a heat exchanger to hopefully fix the problem......So whats the problem you ask? Well, I haven't really ran the truck that fast since November but I went out today and made some blasts in the 45 degree weather and the same thing is happening........I guess my biggest question is "Do you guys think that the heat exchanger is gonna solve my problems or am I better off doing something else?"........I have contemplated going to the 4lb pulley but don't want to take a step backwards if I don't have to.........Thanks in advance....I am open to suggestions......Oh yea....my times were

I'm no expert, but i don't think the 4lb will be a big step back in performance. I have similar mods- 4lb, single blade tb, magna flo cat back, elec fan, JLP ram air, JDM flip chip, PHP extrued honed upper plenum, JDM 58"traction bars, And have run 12.9s on nittos w/chip on street tune (forgot to flip it, couldn't figure why it was running slower than usual) Best w/hooseirs & strip tune 12.65 @108
not sure what your dead spot is though, Have you checked the famous fuel filter?

Yea I actually just changed the fuel filter a couple thousand miles ago......I was thinking it might be the intercooler dirty though.....My MPH just isn't close to where it should be(from others times I have seen.....) I guess I should phrase going to the 4lb as a step back......because it could actually help me from what I have heard........I just don't know whether the heat exchanger is going to allow me to use the extra boost(heat) from the 6lber.........Any ideas??????

Thanks,
Chris

step down to a 4# and then port the blower.

the additional air flow keeps the blower much cooler, and the need for a heat exchanger is gone.
Plus you have a significant power increase.

And the 4# with a ported eaton will give you more power than a 6# non-ported

- yes the intercooler pump is running as far as I know....It is running at idle but not really sure about going down the road? Good thought though.......

- I was actually thinking about that option.....especially with all the poeple getting good results out of it.......

Keep the ideas coming.........Do you guys think that the extra heat is what is causing this...?????

Thanks,
Chris

When I originally purchased my truck it had a SuperChip installed in the computer. After about 6 months my truck started to just die whenever I hit 80mph on the highway... scared the crap out of me.
I just pulled the chip and the problem went away... could just be a bad tune!
