Red face PRESUMEING YOUR LIGHTNING HAS AN ALARM SYSTEM

The lightning as you are aware is a special kind of vehicle just don't park it around shopping centers where the thugs hang out i do drive mine but its never out of my sight very long. most people just like to look at it but by doing so the ones with the big belt buckle can destroy your paint. getting back to your alarms they are add ons such as shaker motion that can be added to your present alarm stay away from remote starters they can cause problems on the lightnings i suggest you contack a
reputable alarm installer and go from thier/

ill tell you this.... there is NOTHING safe.... i had my bike (02 gsxr 600) stolen out of my garage about 3 months ago...

it was the 2nd day I had the L... so i hadnt cleaned out the garage yet... so jeep, truck and L couldnt fit in garage... so i left the keep in driveway that night..... i then woke up in middle of night for some reason and just went to garage... and guess what... my bike was gone... someone had broken the glass out in jeep and opened the garage door from inside the jeep and taken off with bike.... i NEVER heard a thing... of course garage is on other side... but still.....

i had disc lock and steering wheel locked on my bike.... but that doesnt matter... they just picked it up and threw in back of a van or truck.... never did get it back and im still crying about it....

bottom line.... u can spend all the money on alarms, etc you want... but really the only way you are really protected is INSURANCE... if someone wants your stuff bad enough... consider it gone!!!

If someone wants it bad enought nothing will stop them.

HOWEVER...
Mine is under lock and key inside when I am not driving it, in a garage, (Barn for the winter)
I have a dog that barks at everything, same with my neighbors.
I live in the country (think 1/2 mile down a dirt road) and have acreage. With the assortment of hunting rifles, shotguns and a handgun, I'll scare the ***** out of someone.

But in reality if someone hopped in my truck to steal it, I would try to stop them, but not shoot them.

The best anti=theft device?
REMOVE THE WHEELS... (take them off when in storage, if they want the truck they'll have to put them back on)

.50 Desert Eagle, Teflon coated rounds.

Or as they are driving away, a Colt AR-15, Heavy barrel, flash suppressor. The Teflon rounds arn't nessasar simple Cor-Bon's will do. If they are wearing a B-proof jacket, it will go through.

How about a fuel pump swich located in a very odd place. Flip the swich and the truck gets no fuel so they cannot move it. But as far as breaking into and taking the wheels or stereo, good alarm is my only guess.

i've had a M3 Stolen from me and lit on fire. It was a 2003 and the car before i bought the lightning. I had 5g's in the trunk with a system and another 2g's under the hood. 6g's in rims. I had a $1800 alarm that basically did everything but shoot the guy trying to get it. It was stolen from my college parking lot in rhode island and found torched in a alley in boston. nothing can stop them if they want it bad enough....god i miss that car

I actually looked for an alarm system, as gun possession isn't as favorably looked upon up here in the Yankee states.

Conclusion - don't waste the money. Buy a lower comprehensive deductible. Actually, Lightnings don't have a huge theft rate. Apparently, they're too noticeable to be driving around a stolen one, and there's not a huge market for parts.

Alarms themselves are a total waste of $$$. I thought about a GPS recovery system, where if it gets stolen, it'll call your cell, tell you it's moving, you can track it online in real time, and hopefully direct the cops to it. What's actually cool is that you can even call the monitoring company and have them send a kill signal to the car. But they're around $1K, and only work assuming a thief doesn't find and disable it first.

Really, if it gets stolen, I'm not sure I'd want it back all damaged and violated, and that's assuming the dumb azz wouldn't try to outrun the cops in it and wreck it.
