Sub Enclosures

I would love to install a new sub behind the seats but not sure what to get. I would love something clean that looks stock but can withstand some power. I know of MTX Thunderform boxes but are there any others? Who can make some really neat and clean sub enclosures for our trucks? Would like to put in a pair of 10's or 12's if possible. Anyone with any suggestion? Any response would be appreciated. Would also love to see some pics of some sub enclosures already installed.

Thanx
Cypri

I vote for something custom... a competent local stereo shop should be able to hook you up.

I have a buddy that does custom stuff here locally. he made this for me:

he wanted to do more, like have the box go all the way across with the amp sunken in and under glass, but it would have interfered too much with the armrest operation so I said no.

I still think what he did looks super nice though, and sounds great too.

later,
chris

P.S. click my sig and look in the Lightning Modifications album for more pics.

Hey Chris,

Whats ontop of the far sub box? Looks like a XM antenna?

With that box setup can you move your seat all the way back and recline all the way? reason I ask is because I am about to build a sub box and I am 6'11" so I need all the room I can get.

Thanks,

Jon

I don't recall the demensions off hand. With just the box the seat has full range of motion. I have mounted the amps above the box.

The Amps limit the range of recline.

I am going to mount the amp on the floor and build the box around it. The box will probably look very similar to yours. I am going to do some fiberglassing on the sides on the rear wall to increase volume.

superfords, nice subs! Are those the w0's? And is that box fiberglass? How much did you pay through your buddy? Sorry for all the Q's but I really like how it looks.

Home built version. The seat goes back all the way. I should have made it slightly shallower but with the seat reclined one notch away from the window, it just barely hits the seat. My wife likes the feeling though (no jokes).

The Thunderforms are durable, and blend with the interior, but they aren't really for kickin' it. For me, 2 10s just don't hack it for both good SQ and volume. Go with a custom box with 2 12s (or more) and you'll be happier.
