which tires? nitto 555's , f 1"s or toyo's
Are any of those tires noisey.
I still have the Pirellie Zero's the last guy put on my truck and they are noisey like snow tires.
Also very heavy.
I weighed the rear's on my refrigeration scale and it came in at 90lbs each without lug nuts on stock wheel!
I have been looking at the Nitto 555 as well.

I have had my TOYO's on for about 20,000 miles and they are the quietest tire I've ever owned(in 40+ years). They are the smooothest too but they don't 'hook' very well. They have a higher rating on 'wear' than the F1s so they aren't as 'sticky'.

Thanks Dan.
What size are you running?
I noticed while looking at http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/home.jsp
there are only a few tires in the stock size 295/45/18
I will go look for a link on the Toyo's

After talking to some of the guys on here, I went with a set of 555R's on the rears(305/45/18) and a set of 555 on the front (295/45/18). I am keeping my F1's for the winter. From what I hae heard, the 555R's are the best street tire for hookup. Can't really drive them in the rain, but other than that I am looking forward to them!

Actually I've noticed the 555R's seemed to hook better in rain than the 555's.
I bought 555's all the way around, and I was displeased with traction to say the least. I ended up taking the 555's off the rear and putting on 555R's. If you want the best traction and not run a limited mileage tire I'd stick with the f1's. If you don't care about mileage, the 555R is awesome and will run in the rain with no problems.

i stayed away from the nittos because if i did go with them i wanted a wider tire and only the R came in the 305 size, and it had way to soft of a compound.
i had toyos on when i bought the truck and at that point never drove the truck with the f1's, now having went back to the f1's next set is gonna be the toyos, f1's are stickier and there fore kick up alot more road debris, my groud effects look like hell, i had my toyos for 2 1/2 seasons and they wearnt to bad, one season with the f1's and hell, but thats because the f1's are stickier, so compareing tire life, traction, ground effects
, i went back to the toyos..

I am a fan of the Nitto's, with lower air pressure in the 22 lb range they can hook like a SOB. But I will warn you, once you start (if you haven't already) modding your L heavily with high hp ratings it doesn't matter what set of skins you have on the rear - you will end up feathering her out regardless.
I think all of your choices are great tires and obviously from the posts above everyone has a few good things to say about each.
Good Luck on your choice.

This last fall I was coming home through OH in a very heavy downpour. I was VERY supprised at how well the F1s tracked and did not hydroplane at 65-70. Got 25k miles on them too.
All in all the F1s really are a good tire. When I buy some replacements I'll probably go with the toyos just cause they are different and have a harder compound. But the goodyear F1 is gonna be a hard tire to beat IMO.

I just went with Toyo's as the look is so different than the Goodyears. That's the only reason for me. Time for a little change. Now I just have to use up the good F1's on the front that will be moved to the back. Shouldn' t be a problem.
