Can someone prove this wrong?

Someone posted this on another board about a lightning, can you show me example trucks to prove him wrong? As in, a truck with about 1-2grand in it?

Thanks

between 5000-9000$ to shave a second off your 1/4 mile time

http://www.teamjdm.com/id129.htm

if you are getting it tuned at jdm, one of the top 2 lightning tuners, and since the lightning runs aprox. 14 secs stock you would only be in the 12s with those mods

then add this
http://www.teamjdm.com/id254.htm
another 2000$ and your in the 11s

its gonna be well over 10k to get into 10s

Well I got my truck in August of 2002 and went to the track that summer when it was 97 degrees or so......I ran a best of 14.0. Then I went to the track the following January when it was 37 degrees or so and I went 13.0 three times. Both trips to the track the truck was stock so I did it for FREE.

He ran an eleven once. There is a big difference between consistently running elevens and getting there one time. Not to flame Rob he is a good guy. I even like his new Mitsubishi.

You can run 11's for a lot less than that. It all comes down to how safe you want to run 11's. Thats where the money is involved. You could get a mail order chip, 6 lb lower and a 75 shot and tires and be in 11's. Where the money is spent is when you decide that to run slicks u need traction bars. To make it safe you need a dyno tune. you also need a drive shaft loop. All the little things add up and thats what makes it more costly. But theoretically you could got to the track, borrow slicks from a friend and with less than 2000 easily run 11's.

Speed costs how fast do u want to go
Safety costs how long do u want it to last

It all depends on your goals.

Most heavily modified Ls have all those things and more no matter what vendor you choose.
There is ways to save money(used stuff, being innovative) but what people do not realize that the first few tenths are easy , but as you get faster it takes more H.P. to push the "Brick" through the air.
Sometimes a tenth can be pretty expensive and it may take a few things being done to acheive it.
Just ask any Top fuel team. It costs MILLIONS for a tenth.

It cost me WAY more then $10,000 for my 10 second DAILY DRIVEN L, but I just took a 650 mile(13 hour) drive last week and went from 100 m.p.h. cruising to being stuck in traffic for an hour to only shutting the L off for gas stops and it RAN FLAWLESSLY.

To me that is PRICELESS.

I only ran an 11 once
cause I only ran it once with it's current Mods

Next time out IT WILL BE FASTER

Open Filter
My 1st Chip
Denso Plugs
Dial-ur-boost Upper pulley (but used stock upper for this run)
4lb Lower = 12.8 on F-1's (that was @ $900.00 in mods)

Added Plasma Booster
Accu Fab
Traction Bars
DS Loop
2" Shackles
Bought Used Slicks = 12.7 (Ya I know) (that was @ 1K)

Added a Zex Kit = (2) immediate 12.0's 65HP+4lbs ($500.00)

Put the 2lb upper on and switched to 75HP = 11.81 (FREEBIE)

To this point I have @ $2500.00 in Mods and thats including Slicks, Rims, Suspension, Bars, Loop, etc....
It will run 11 all days if I want it to, depending on the Nitrous Jets

NEW FOR THIS SEASON, Not track tested yet
FTVB
JDM 58" Bars
WESP Eaton = Total cost of all 3 = $575.00 (ya I got good deals)

For 3K total Mods
I WILL be running mid 12's ALL DAY off juice,
and mid 11's on juice

You ran mid 12's off the juice before you ported the blower did you not?

Rob ONLY TRIED TO RUN 11 ONCE

SO THERE

I never said I had a rocket ship of a Lightning Here, GATOR
Thousands of you can whoop my butt.
I only think I got to where I did for cheaper than Most,
and with alot less mods.
AMOF some spend more money on their exhuast system
than all my performance mods put together GATOR

I ran 12.7's using the NOW Nitrous Program (16 degrees)
Good observation NTIMD8
I've never even made an all gas pass on the 18 degree program
I've been running on the street now since last April/May.
And my 12.7's were with 4lbs of pulley not 6.

Your right, Let the records show, I will make some High Timing
High Boost W/WASP (thats Wes Apten Stlye Port) Runs this
season and run low 12's off juice.

But as for juice, No I'm tuning down, with another new car payment now, there is no blowing it up this season.
My Goal there is 11.7 - 11.9 with 4lbs + 65HP
Just want to back up some 11's, running GATOR, AND WHOOPING HIS *** on film FOR THE WORLD TO SEE, and to get him off my frigging back.

If the truth were to be known, you would find out that Gator built his own exhaust system out of 1 1/2 galvanized pipe left over from a Construction site he was on. There are even a few victaulic fittings in the system somewhere. Least thats what I heard.
