I am looking to purchase a 04 lightning but cannot believe that in doesn't have a trip computer or electronic air control. I can live without the EATC but really want a trip computer. Can one be added from a lariat ? if so what is the procedure ?

Don't have a Lightening, (I have a 2000 Lariat) but as it is a F150, I would tend to believe that it should have something in common with the 'normal' trucks in that the 'mode / reset' button in the instrument cluster toggles the display between trip odometer and total miles traveled. When in trip mode, holding the button down longer that a couple seconds resets it back to zero.

what does this "trip computer" do?

i've got a gas guage, a speedometer, a odometer, and a trip meter.. thats all i need..

 

yeah i'm pretty sure they come with them. Hold down the rod in front of the the mileage. Should move to a trip.

 

ummm, my lightning has a trip computer??? why doesnt yours, i have a 2000.

 

When you say trip computer, do you mean things such as Distance to Empty, Time to location, etc, or just a small trip odometer? All lightnings have the trip odo. If there is a trip "computer" that we could install, that would be an interesting mod, and I would definitely be all for it.
