That depends on where you race. For example down in SWFlorida if you hit Bradenton and you pull faster than an 10.99 you need a 5 point to stay on the track.

I would check with your local track first.

D-Day

Never noticed that before. You're right.

But in his case, it's a roll cage

Hey, I said I haven't seen a nicer one SINCE mine, and Stan's was BEFORE mine. LOL

Seriously, I give Stan big props for his cage, I used his pictures to get a general idea of how we were going to run some of our bars. His is no doubt more complex, being what he does and all. All us drag racers need to go 10.00 is just a 5 point bar.

Ah, if you dip into the 9's do you need any other safety features or do the current ones remain for 9's ?

If you're splitting hairs, you could say Sal has the nicest roll bar and Stan has the nicest roll cage. All these pics posted are of roll bars, not cages. Stan has the only cage I'm aware of. Of course you could just stamp JDM on one, then it becomes the best/nicest.

It all changes once you hit 9's. Among other things you have to go to drag racing school to get a competition license. You'll need:
SFI flexplate
Flexplate shield
SFI balancer
Trans scatter shield or blanket
Aftermarket rearend with SFI axles, C clip eliminators
Roll cage
Parachute
Longer wheel studs
Window net
Rear batter cutoff, even if battery's in stock location. Must be 'push off'
5pt harness
Helmet, neck brace, and fire suit (SFI approved)

There may be a bit more, not really sure.

Well all I can say is the So Cal Speed Shop rear sway bar end links, made a lot more noise than my roll bar ever made.

Swingouts are legal. We have them on our race truck and have been thru tech at several tracks without incident.
