Question What material is the seats made of?

What is the actual material of these seats in the Lightning? This is what the SVT website states:

”Medium Graphite cloth with textured leather Ebony accents, leather door trim”

They don’t seem like “ordinary” cloth seats to me, they seem like suede or something similar to that.

The reason I ask is I want to post a question in the “Interior Care” forum about how to properly care for the material, to keep it clean, cleaning etc but want to know what the material actual is to begin with.

On that note if any of you have some pointers for me on the proper care and cleaning of the material please educate me…

This has been hashed over a bunch....

The seats are made of some sort of suede alternative called Alcantara or something like that...

Ya suede and I think the woven part of the seats is leather.

its NOT suede, this issue is older than dirt.. its a suede look a like...thats why they call it "cloth" and not suede...since suede is leather and all

Okay here's the poop. I knew that I had looked at the panels before when replacing my speakers. Konig had me doubting, but I just went out to my truck and popped off the door handle guard and the answear is LEATHER. No question. It does have a foam backing to it, but I slightly seperated it and it is leather. I am guessing Konig, that what got sent to you may very well be vinyl, but from the factory it is leather.

PS, you might want to edit your first post on this subject.

I dont see how thats possible... the material I have is an identical match ordered through an auto shop. It doesnt have a foam backing, it has a white "thread" type of backing on it. I would think it was leather too if it didnt smell like vinyl.. I wouldnt expect the stock material to smell like vinyl...it doesnt even smell like anything.

I will take pictures of both so you can see the comparison.. Im not saying I cant be wrong...but give me a few mins and we will find out

Hey Konig I wonder what is up. There is definitely no white threads on the back of mine, just good ole unfinished leather (the suede side or unfinished side). I realize the replacement may match but look at you original if you can. It takes two secs to pop off the door handle trim. Good luck

Outside is no big problem, just the inside and trying to figure out what kind of materal the seats are etc.

the seats are leather (black inserts) and a suede-like cloth called alcantara.

Here is the Vinyl

And the door

I think you're right about the door.. I dont know how to feel now. I was let down when I thought the doors and seat inserts were not leather, now that is fine...but Im not too crazy about the fact I paid a decent amount of money for this vinyl... ahh well... it looks perfect, you cant tell at all from the outisde or feel..guess it doesnt matter.

Makes me wonder where you can buy the actual leather from though... and if anyone who has used this stuff on their console lids and such bought real leather or vinyl.

Hey whatever, life is short. I know earlier there was someone who had bought it in leather. Can't remember who though. Good luck and man those are clean fingernails.
