Lightbulb Anyone running the JDM 100mm idlers?

Any comments on these?

JDM claims 5 hp/7 tq. Plus they look good.
Are they the same size as the factory idlers?

I find it hard to beleive an idler is going to give you any power. Does JDM manufactur idlers now? What ever happened to their aluminum block engine program?

Those look similar to the metco 100mm idler pulleys I have on my truck. I dyno'd mine at 2.3 hp... The JDM pullies must have some super duper high tech bearings...

I emailed JDM for a price. I'll post the price when I find out, unless one of the JDM guys chime in first...

I'm with you guys. I don't see how idler pullies can improve HP by 5.4. JMHO

Well I hope that they are better than the Metco Idler Pulleys
I bought a set of the Metcos, but had to take them off to there crappy bearings. Mine did not spin true, and wabbled all over the place.

The idlers don't actually make H.P. per say. What they do is allow the upper and lower pullies do their job better.Eliminate or decrease the amount of slipping and you will get a slight increase in power. How anyone can give you a solid number is beyond me, due to the fact that different pullies on different trucks slip more than others. An example of this is a 6/2 combo. It seems when you go down to a 2.8 upper, the chances of slipping is apparent in most cases.Although. I have to say we have tried the 100 mm idlers with the Metco tensioner on a American Muscle's 01 lightning with a 6/2 combo and he claims a slight increase on the top end.But he still gets a squeel when he lets off after a hard 1st to 2nd shift. And he even has a reichard racing upper pulley.Seems like its impossible to get rid of that unless you run a cog set-up.

According to JDM's write-up, the power comes from eliminating pulley drag, not slippage.
