It uses a standard 9 pin male/female serial cable. If you would have purchased the Predator from us, it would have came with it and the power pack .

I have to give Sal at PSP lots of credit!! Out of all the vendors selling the Predator, Sal is the only vendor that had insight enough to include with the Predator, the serial cable and the power pack, both of which you must have if you want a custom tune. It is a Diablo Sport shortcoming that they did not include these two inexpensive items as part of their Predator package!

Oh, for those that do not have a serial port (should be very few) you can get USB to Serial RS232 9-pin male cable adapter that will work for you.

to Sal the insightful one!

Just go to say Radio Shack or your local computer accessories store and tell them you need a regular, standard, nothing special RS232 9 pin male/female serial port cable. The Predator has a female 9 pin connector so you need a serial port cable that has a 9 pin MALE on it to plug in there and the other end needs to be what you will plug into your computer. You probably have a Male 9 pin serial port connector on your computer. SO, you will need a RS232 9 pin Serial port cable with a male on one end and a female on the other. (female end hooks to your computer)

IF you do not have a serial port on your computer (my guess is you have at least one) you can get a USB to serial port adapter and that will do the job for you.

I would have to second that. I bought one, from a different vendor, to play around with( I haven't tried tuning with it yet). I was a bit surprised that it did not come with all the parts needed to be able to utilize it fully.

Nice move Sal .

You need the power pack when you are hooking the Predator up to a home computer. When the Predator is hooked to your truck it gets it's power from the truck.

Power Adapter:
Class 2 transformer
Output: 12VDC 1000mA (1 Amp)
Center is positive and outside is negative

You can get this at Radio Shack for about $14.00+-. Take your Predator with you to Radio Shack as they will need to match up the proper size male jack to fit the Predator's female jack. The power pack adapters they sell at Radio Shack accept different jacks and they will give you one with purchase of the adapter. Of course you could buy the adapter elsewhere.

Thanks for the info guys. I just got my Predator, and didn't get the power pack or serial cable either. I may have to do the serial to USB because I don't think my laptop has a serial port.

Just curious, would a USB or Firewire not transfer the information as quick or quicker?

The serial port interface is going to be the limiting factor...regardless of what interface you're using on the PC side. The serial port on the Predator's side is going to limit how fast the info is passed to the PC regardless of hwo fast the interface on the PC side is.

File size you are transferring is ALWAYS 262,144 bytes for a custom tune.... no more and no less. "Speed" when transferring that amount of data is really not an issue.. Big issue is that you have that exact amount of bytes received or transferred!

IF you need the USB to Serial Port Adapter you will need:

USB to Serial RS232 9-pin male connector cable adapter.

You can find these at your local computer accessories store for about $22+-. You can find the same thing on eBAY for say $2.00 BUT you have to pay the vendor $11.00+ for shipping. I just bought another one and it cost me $1.00 for the cable and about $12 for shipping. Still a decent price compared to local prices... The vendor has more for sale..
