I've been raped again!!

I recently bought an 03 L. First my brother smokes me in his 01. Then again tonight on the way home, another 01 got me. Granted, both of these trucks have pullies and chips versus my Airaid intake. It just sucks getting beat when you're in something that you have so much confidence in. Sal's recent post about overspinning the blower with pulley swaps really scared me into keeping the truck stock but I keep gettin wasted? What do I do?

I think that post was made way before they knew how much the Eaton could handle.

I have not read 1 thread that has mentioned the Eaton being deystroyed from being overspun. Normally the motor will let go before that will happend.

You should be fine with a 4lb.

If you don't want to mess with the pulley, you could always do some other bolt-on's and port the eaton like me. My setup right now without a pulley is good for 380 RWHP.

My truck only had 324 RWHP stock. So if your truck was better from the factory (and most are) you could see 400 RWHP without a pulley.

Well, if you want to keep up with modded trucks you have to mod yours, there's no way around that. A #4 lower pulley wouldn't overspin the supercharger and give plenty of gains. I would also get a chip to make sure it's tuned correctly and a single blade throttle body to get some more air in there.

Chip and pulley, or take your beating like a man, or you can look at the bright side. You got whopped by another lightning, it would be worse if it was a chebby though that aint possible

My only regret with my 6lb lower was wishing I would have got the 8lb. I don't drag race or do any wide open blasts for any length of time, I just like the awesome tip in

I have yet to hear of anyone on this forum coming forward and saying that they destroyed their blower from overspinning it.
I am sure it's a possibility, but once you feel the power difference you not going to care.

Once the mod bug bites it is a addiction you cant stop. I have 4 mods for my 03 cobra and it isnt here yet. I think im a first class addict.

Go with the 4lb lower and chip then it keeps on adding up

why would you think your stock Lightning could run with a slightly modded Lightning?
Once you see what happenes to these trucks with a chipNpulleyNfilter you are going to ***** your pants...hehe Then you're going to want more!

The overspining of the stock Eaton was posted a loooong time ago, before we the owners and the tuners knew what would happen. Its been proven time and time again, the Eaton will take over spining it. But it does make ALOT of heat doing so, so you just have to figure out how to remove the heat

5 lb pulley, etc. on my 01 L for 55,000 trouble-free miles. Total miles now at 66,700. Don't run 'em if you don't like getting whupped .

A chip filter & pulley will open your eyes. I was flat out amazed at what Paul at REM was able to accomplish when I was there for a dyno tune.

No jike. It's a completely different motor after he gets done.

Slicks, Chip, Filter and 4# pulley along with some other less imprtant mods knocked almost 2 seconds of my ET's

I have been running 4# of boost for most of the trucks 70,000+ miles

LOL, I knew resurrecting that post from Sal was gonna confuse some of the newer L owners. That post is outdated. The Stock eaton has proven to be very very strong reliable. That was an old old post.

Also, I don’t understand why you would feel bad about losing to the same truck as you that is modded when you are stock? What did you think was gonna happen?

This would be just like the SRT 10 owner saying he lost to a moded L. Only difference is your L only had 380 HP stock, not 500 HP. Just shows how much the chip, filter, and tune can wake up your L. I just got mine done this weekend and I can't believe the difference.

Talking NOT WORRIED ABOUT OVER SPINNING BLOWER/

When it comes time for my next tune we just load the lightning into the hauler off to JDM we go over spinning is the least of my worries. so go for the mods and be happy unless you want to be out run every time. you know something it really bothers me when some lightning owner wants to tune for 87 octane gas why own a lightning then.Just like some who thinks an open flow muffler creates horsepower if it sound they want then go for it. lightnings are made for preformance so MOD it and be happy/:if i tear something up JDM has pleanty of parts in stock
