thinking about selling my L

well after spending about $4,000 on my truck and only running 12.80@ 105, it hurts me in my heart to say i want something else...i bought a truck that obviously had some problems, it was a lightly modded 2000 with 10,000miles...it doesnt have many mods really.. kenne bell with 3.5 upper, 4lb lower, straight pipes, 170thermo, NGK Br7's, 90mm MAF, 12'' Filter, Diablo Chip...i dont even know if its worth fiding the problem and building the truck up to run 10's (which i had plans for) i may just get an 03 cobra, or maybe a Twin Turbo Supra...i love my truck..and i would kill the person driving if i ever saw it on the road again...i dont know what to do..the truck drives perfrectly fine but just didnt run as fast as i hoped...you will all know soon what i am doing...

For one thing the straight pipes may be hurting you some. Is your chip programmed for the KB? What boost do you get?

Sounds like a few small things EASILY fixed could make you have a EASY 11sec truck....

if that is your decision, be smart

and put it back to stock trim and sell the aftermarket accessories to recoup a portion of the money spent.

Figure out your problem....

I thought about doing the same thing as you when I couldn't get my truck dialed in. I had Tommy at Outrageous Performance burn me a chip, and now I couldn't be happier.

Trust me bro....Otherwise your truck will be like the hot chick in high school you never banged.

Leo, I know you have reached a very frustrating point with the L. Many of us "have been there done that". He11 it took me over 5 weeks to correct my stalling problem with the flip chip.

The equation to success isn't always on your door step right away. Regardless of the mods......in a previous post it was recommended you have another mechanic further analyse all aspects of your L and attempt to uncover the potential challenge.

I am glad I had the patience to work through my L's issues, give it some thought before you give up!

D-Day

Sit back and take a deep breath..............

This is all part of hot rodding, have you put the truck on the dyno to see whats going on. A/F ratio, tq and hp curves.

You have already spent the money on the hard parts, just have a little patience.

15lbs, yes it has been tuned by a diablo tech. A/F was 11.5 made 431 and 501 on a mustang dyno

well if in your heart, you think its the right thing to do..........then do it. Or you will be second guessing yourself many times over.

Sell me your KB and I'll send you an Eaton to replace it, so atleast you'll recoup some of your money
Good luck in your decision

Don't sell it just because it didn't run what you expected. Be patient. It's all about time and $$$$$.

Yeah, what she said. The sum of the parts has to equal a whole. With your parts you should be well below 12.8. You just need to unlock the secret to what that is. Good luck.

If your thinking about selling it then think it over big time. It took me a while to decide to sell my 02. It had too many issues to fix with what little money I made at the time so I let it go, but thats what mods can do to you! I'm happy now with my Slobra, be even more happy when I slap on that ProCharger!!!!!!

I hate when people come on here and say "I think I've gotta sell the L..." If ya gotta get rid of it, get rid of it. NO offense to you, but are you really going to sell the truck? I dont think so.
Leo, I've been through my share of frustration with the Lightning. I smoked the tranny after 5,000 miles. Clutch packs, solinoids, converter, gears, everything was shot. The truck was in the shop for more than a week. How do you think I felt the night it happened? What about the week without it? What about the day I got it back. (is it going to happen again)
I wasted a whole night doing the rotors, and I find out I was given the wrong ones. (not the trucks fault) But still, I was so pissed at the truck that night. Doing my spark plugs wasn't fun. It took me a whole night. Ask me when I was doing them how much I loved my truck. I hated the thing. I've put a bunch of money into my truck too. I've ran my share of 13's or high 12's when I should have been lower. I've had my chip in and out of the tuners shops like you wouldnt believe. I've had my truck in and out of the dealership for warranty *****. I've had my truck dynoed twice and I dont feel the #'s I made indicate what my truck really has. Did I go and sell my truck? Did I go out and spend a bunch of money on more mods? NO, you have to have patience with these trucks. But once you get everything together, and everything is how you want it, you cant compare that feeling to anything. Trust me, you wouldn't want it any other way.
I dont know, getting rid of it may be a good decision. Just a few weeks ago you had the little fender bender that may have costed you some money. Now you're getting bent out of shape after you "only" ran a 12.8... You did come on here and post with a smiley face and reported the 12.8 didnt you? It wasnt till we questioned 12.8 out of the kb till you got upset.
One thing I learned about these trucks man, do what you wanna do. Dont do anything for anyone else.
If I were you I'd think long and hard before getting rid of the truck. You must have thought hard before you put the $3000 blower on it. Think now before you take it off.
I dont have much info for ya on what to do with the set up ya got. Just try to get with someone else who has a KB, and talk to them. I hope you get your stuff together. Good luck man, Shane
