SHO v Lightning and Vette Vid
Would be a fun car to surprise the hell out of some unsuspecting owners of more traditional muscle cars...
I dont think moddin a family sedan is any more strange than owning a 400+ hp, supercharged pickup truck... sure scares the hell out of the guys on the loading dock at Home Depot when I go fishtailing out of there with a load of plywood... lol

I disagree on the Vette movie. He started with his front end at the Vettes back tire. By the end of his race with the Vette, he was ahead of the Vette, even if only by a fender. It appears that he let out either because he was going fast enough and figured he had proved his point OR because if you look in the video, he was gaining on a car in his lane.
Granted, since the SHO is front drive, it's going to get it's **** kicked from a stoplight, but I have to give it credit because it's a seriously fast car.

so if you think the vette would have won, are you conceding that the Vette is faster than the Lightning???
The SHO beat the Lightning.
And you are saying the Vette would have beat the Sho.
Therefore it follows that the vette would have beat the Lightning.
(not taking into consideration extraneous factors, MPH, Temp, wind etc...)

The red L and the dark red SHO in that vid are friends of mine. That SHO is FAST AS HELL from a roll. Due to its front wheel drive, it's not all that impressive out of the hole, BUT once that thing gets going....it PULLS ITS A$$ OFF!!!!
I happened upon this guy a couple days after I bought my L (back in April of '02). I was taking a friend for a ride in my new Lightning, when we come upon this little SHO. We are laughing and pointing, when he revs. At that time we are hysterical.....until....we both hit it, and he commences to "walk the dog" on my a$$!
Yes, in my very FIRST race in the beloved L, I got my a$$ handed to me by a fricking Taurus! Granted, I was bone stock, but that didn't make me feel any better at the time. Super nice guy though, and the "quintessential car guy".
The red L in the vid has a JDM chip, 4lb lower, throttle body, and CAI. The truck makes roughly 400 or so RWHP. I've seen him run low 12's at 110mph at the TX Motorplex...on Drag Radials. It runs HARD for the relatively few mods it has. He would have given these guys hell from a dig, but, with the aerodynamics of a brick wall, is slightly over matched on the highway, against a buch of purpose-built top-end cars.
Just thought I'd share...

I modded my family sedan, a 98 chrysler concorde with 55hp dry shot of NOS ZEX, and added 20" Cruz chrom dubz. But those sho's bring it. I wonder what they had done, besides engine + boosting, they'll need new computers and new tranny.
Still they're nice, if only they could make their SHOs really good looking.

Little SHO, You're really looking fine ....
Good to see these old SHO's given new life with turbos and superchargers. I owned my '90 SHO for 10 years and then gave it to my brother. It's still running great. Will suggest to my bro that he add a S/C or turbo and have some fun.
My L is my third stock boosted vehicle. First was a '78 turbo Buick Regal. The first turbo model. Not nearly as fast as the later versions but pretty good for 1978.
Next came a GMC Syclone. Fun little truck and very fast. I liked it a lot. Sold it when I bought my L which, of course, remains my overall favorite.
Interesting that several others on this board have also owned an SHO and a Syclone. Don't know anyone else who has also owned a '78 turbo Buick, however.
