Cool Went to the track lastnight and Laid the Smack down.

Took the "Frightening Lightning" out to No Problem Raceway Park last night for a little bracket racing action. There was an incredible turn out due to the nice weather (60 degrees) . I got there early and made 4 time trial passes (13.36 / 13.37 / 13.38 / 13.40). I dialed in at 13.35 and parked the truck waiting on the first round of eliminations. Now my truck is faster than these times but I wasn't trying for my best ET just an ET I could consistantly do as the goal tonight wasn't to break my personal best record but instead to come home with the Trophy. By the time the first round of eliminations got started The Frightening Lightning had cooled down completely so I changed my dial in to 13.3 (just wiped off the 5) in fear of breaking out. My match ups turned out to be a showdown of pickup trucks.....which was fine by me.

Round One - Me in the right lane and a New Silverado in the left. He dialed in at 15.60 and I picked him up so fast that I let up as I passed him in fear of breaking out. I coasted to a 13.411 at 95mph. He finished with a 15.991 which wasn't good enough to continue for him. On to round two.

Round Two - Me in the right lane and (the only car I ran against all night) an LS1 Firebird/Camero. He ran a 13.238 on his 13.15 dial-in but the Frightening Lightning ran a 13.322 on my 13.3 dial-in. My margin of victory was .0134....that was close. On to round three.

Round Three - Me in the right lane and Regular Cab Dodge 1500 Hemi in the left....this was Poetic. He dialed in at 15.18 but gave up a .151 reaction advantage to me. I ran a 13.352 on my 13.3 dial-in and he broke out with a 14.968 in a futile attempt to cross the finish line first. And That Thang Had a Hemi in it. (Thinking about going back to my 13.35 dial-in now) On to round four.

Round Four - Me in the right lane and 00'/01' model Silverado in the left. This Silverado was nice and had a little work done to it as his 13.65 dial in hinted at. He redlighted but I made a full pass of it anyway...just to check my dial-in. I ran a 13.398 on my 13.3 dial-in. To bad he redlighted....had he not and had I cut a good light this would have been a race! On to round Five, Da' SemiFinals.

*note* I changed my dial-in to 13.35 *end note*

Round Five Da' SemiFinals - After winning a coin toss for lane choice it was me in the right lane and a 197x or 198x Elcamino in the left. He dialed in at 12.98 but gave up a .094 reaction advantage to me. He broke out trying to catch me as I went on to run a 13.358 on my 13.35 dial-in . He ET'd at 12.958...that will be a very nice Elky once its painted. On to Round Six Da' Finals.

Round Six Da' Finals - It was me in the right lane as I got lane choice due to the other finalist receiving a bye in the semi-final round. I did a John Force-like burnout and coasted through the staging lights as I looked at the track official and grinned from ear to ear. Backed up, pre-staged, and waited for my opponent....who happened to be the 2003 Track Champion in the Steet Class *note* We both are Graduates of Hahnville High The 2003 Class AAAAA State Football Champs *end note*. SHE staged her late 90's model Silverado and the lights made thier way down the tree. She was dialed-in at 14.48 and our reaction times were within .026 of each other. She went on to run a 14.501 but it was to no avail as I crossed the line with a 13.361 on my 13.35 dial-in and took in the Win .

"Da' Frightening Lightening" took home the trophy proving to the competition that Ford Lightnings are THE best performance trucks on the Planet.

Thanks Spanky, Martman, and you too TXSVT. There was a Mach1 out there...it broke its axle at the line...maybe it could have made good use out of some of my 'garage bling' or rather Stainless Traction bars as I call them.

Thanks Odin.

Unoid, the T-bars have been installed for over a year. Didn't want to fall victim of axle wrap and driveshaft failure. The 4lber and Predator and IT22 are here just not installed yet . Yes more embarrasment for the comp is around the corner .

Thanks guys.

Were you there last night Spyder207? Sure was fun.

Blown5, only tip on consistance I have it to just do the same eveytime. Like I said I wasn't trying for a personal best. I was able to do 1.96-1.98 everytime by launching at 1500rpms. I just let off the brake and stomped the gas. 23psi in the tires. Piece of cake.

Congrats That was some pretty tough opposition you had there very close to their dia in's. Still your Lightning got the better of them.
