CARB legality - Kenne Bell, Whipple, Vortech

Would changing the stock blower to the above mentioned blowers be illegal in California?

Do these things have the EO number on them?
Thanks!

Actually I think some Vortech and ProCharger Blowers are CARB Approved.

I stand corrected

Quoted by Kenne Bell

What is the Warranty on a Kenne Bell Supercharger? 1 year unlimited mileage.

Does the supercharger void my new vehicle warranty? No.
It is against Federal Law for a Dealer to refuse a warranty claim because an aftermarket product has been installed on your vehicle........ bla bla bla...........

Are Kenne Bell Supercharger Kits "50 State Legal?"
Since 1991, all our kits have been "50 State Legal" with a California Air Resource Board Exemption Number. Some kits may be only "49 State Legal" and in the process of being California certified so, if in doubt, check with us. You can also check the internet at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...S/devices.htm. Then type in "supercharger system."

Vortech Website

Each Vortech supercharging system, unless otherwise noted, meets both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) requirements for classification as 50 state emissions legal under CARB EO # D-213-17.
This was regarding the Strim Kits for 5 Liter and 4.6/5.4 Liter Mustangs and F150s. Although the Lightning is a totally different animal.

As I understand the system - that means putting a KB on a stock truck with no chip may be certified... Add headers or a custom chip and you are back to square 1

Every one of the above mentioned blowers is CARB-certified.

BUT, they are only certified for a standard F-150. If it's even possible, the only way that I can think of to make then perfectly legal on a Lightning would be to swap out all L-specific parts with standard F-150 parts.

But the smog guy would have to be pretty sharp to catch the issue if you showed him a CARB cert for an F-150 approved system.
