Some parts are expensive to make.
Some parts people will pay the extra and not complain.

Even the dime a dozen 5.0's have parts that are priced. It's all part of the market.

Hell exhaust systems for my GTI are around a $1k, and thats just for a downpipe, cat and muffler.

Comes with the territory of modding. You always loose money on vehicles, mods or stock. It's all about the fun. If you are happy paying for 1 thing the great, if not move on to another mod.

I have owned 3 Corvettes in the last year and have modded all of them. Have you ever heard of the Corvette tax. Count your blessings with the price of L mods. Trust me.

I know they are rare or whatever, but they have been around for 6 years and headers still cost a thousand dollars, i mean cmon!

My friend just bought long tubes for his mustang for $300, i'm sure its the same material, is there really a $700 markup?? Oh I forgot we own Lightnings, we're supposed to be rich

The pulley's are getting really reasonably priced but thats about it. Other than that I've got to shell out close to $2000 for the best sounding exhaust sytem.

A stock mustang also starts out making a lot less power. We all know that as HP/TQ #'s go up so does the price to keep taking them up...I mean a stock mustang would cost a lot to bring it up to the level of a stock L. Let alone taking it above the 400 HP mark. I don't know why the exhaust is so expensive(stainless I'm guessing), but who cares IT DOESN'T MAKE ANYMORE POWER IT'S WORTHLESS!!!

The people need to Hire a new Controller or Cost Accountant to implement a new costing strategy, get rid of non value added cost and develop a more accurate activity based costing system. Get the overhead down and the Lightning community will benifit.

I know, thats what i'm sayin... How can a company charge $700 for a catback that has ZERO performance gains. haha
I wish I could come up with a product that gives the consumer 0 gains, and make tons of money off it cause people are stupid enough to buy it.

The price for a set of long tubes and cat-back for the new Lightning killer, SRT-10 , are $3200.00

So , let me understand what you are saying. Because the gains are small for a set of Long tubes, the tuners should give them away? And because the cat-back has ZERO gains the tuners should pay you to have a set

That would be great, you should open your own business. I can see it now. FGP (Fast Gator Performance) X-mas specials on long tubes, first 20 callers get em free....

While you are wondering why Lightning parts cost so much dont forget that there are dozens if not hundreds of Lightning owners here who call tuners all over the country and ask endless questions, many of them never having any intention to buy any product...

There are others who order parts, recieve them, copy them and then stop payment on them and attempt to return them.

That raises the costs of doing business.

If you make a part for a Mustang you have 1000x more poetntial customers. If you are planning and marketiing to sell 100 of something Economics 101 will state that your costs per unit and the price will likely be higher than if you plan to sell 10,000.
