Talking New Kid on the block here

Greetings to all, I've beeen lurking around since mid December when I decided to buy an L.
I bought it 12-31-03, 2004 model, bright Red the only way to go.

So far so good with just a few glitches. I'm not impressed with the stock radio, the first one had such a bad whine when the amp cooling fan came on.
They replaced the unit no questiions asked, after I pointed out to them the TSB I learned of from searching post here.

I'm wondering if any of you have poor radio reception, static in the speakers, the CD player is fine?

The truck pulls slightly to the right and they are looking at that today as well as the radio issue.

When they replaced the radio the service rep noticed some slight paint imperfections, that look like small bubbles in the paint. After washing it they did not go away, I'm hoping this is nothing major.

In all the customer service has been great.

I would also like to thank Tim at, www.chikenearsengineering.com
for the BedRug.
Since Tim was local I stopped by his house and picked up the BedRug, man what a sweet garage, thanks Tim.

Tony

Welcome LawDawg

I prefer listening to the Eaton and Bassani music the "L" makes. The radio/cd in these trucks leaves something to be desired Enjoy your new truck.-Bill-

congrats on the new ride. i'd say live with the paint issues if it comes down to needing to be repainted. My white '04 has the worst paint finish I've ever seen. I didn't notice all the flaws until I had zaino-ed the truck though. good luck & enjoy!

Just recently put on a roush kit as well. Now 2" lower up front and 4" lower on the rear.

which one are you? LOL (sorry, couldn't resist)

TXS,
THats what I'm thinking on the paint issue, but will see what thier body man says.
The radio is the main thing I want taken care of, the static on the stations is driving me nuts.

The link you posted did not work, what was the pick?

I have a stock radio with 30 miles on it sitting in my garage, that thing sucked but the 6 disk changer was nice.

I notice my In-dash 6-disc changer does have a slight hum to it (maybe it's the fan you mentioned above)

The dealer put the a new unit in and the noise is much less now, but its still there. There was a TSB, the service rep said they had just replaced one in an Excursion.
I've been looking at Kenwoods newest systems, may be later I'll be putting one in.

Hey Tony, welcome to the boards. I have the same problem with radio reception with my '03. My '03 Expedition has the glass mounted antena in the rear side window an it gets great reception. Mine sucks. Same thing you described, allot of static through the speakers but the CD sounds just fine. Good luck with your L, and watch out for that damn mod bug. They bite really hard.

After hearing Tims truck, with the Bassani exhaust that will be one of the first things I do before the end of the year.

Plus lowering it.
