Nonsense.

Torque is a static measure -- i.e., force. Without the element of time, it means nothing.

Horsepower measures work (force X time). Work is what it takes to move a car down the road. At the end of the day, horsepower is what wins ALL races -- in fact, every race that has ever been and every race that will ever be.

When people repeat this tired "torque versus horsepower" stuff, they mean that an engine that has a broad powerband will, other things being equal, outperform a peakier engine. But it's STILL horsepower that moves the vehicle.

(HP x 5250)/RPM = Torque

(Torque x RPM)/5250 = HP

At 5,250 RPMs, HP = Torque

An engine with a flatter torque curve will produce a flatter horsepower curve. Show me an engine that makes lots of torque down low, and I'll show you an engine that makes lots of horsepower down low. Period. It's a matter of simple math.

That is not true..........

(HP x 5252)/RPM = Torque

(Torque x RPM)/5252 = HP

At 5,252 RPMs, HP = Torque

Sorry but I had to specify

Cool OK I JUST HAD A FOUR BANK DIABLO REBURN

Alright i just had my diablo chip reburn by motorhaven when the computer picks up on it in a hundred miles or so we will see what kind of horsepower and torque it will make.
I don't know of a better chip than a four bank diablo????? horsepower and torque is the name of the game my 2003 red lightning 12-18-02 #406 of 4270 should be ready to check out in a couple of days baring i don't lose no more than 2% of horsepower thru drive line we will see oh yea any thoughts on the new diablo/ thanks

I have some thoughts, but I doubt that you have many. Did you graduate the 5th grade?

In a Gen2 Lightning, 88.8% of the torque at peak gets to the rear wheels in 3rd gear. I've been over this many times, and it's all bench racing anyhow. I think two equally skilled drivers line up in them, the L wins, both because of the weight and the the computer can shift better than any manual not driven by someone who makes a living driving dragsters. There are some people who can drive a manual better than most ca drive and Automatic, John Force comes to mind, but most people just can't do it. That's what I think anyhow.

Butch Leal was the man in my book. I remember looking in his Pro Stock car and asking where the tach was. Imagine my suprise when he said he didn't use one.

Talking FACTORY TECH IS RIGHT ON HIS SPEC'S

Gregg is right on about the shifts some people can drive automatics and some can not i don't like manuals. Since i installed factory tech valve body there is no delay in my shifts I see no advantage in having manual transmission. some dumb *** like SKENNETT would'nt know how to shift manual any way
???.

You're right. I can't drive a standard. But lets just take a look at some of your comments in this thread...

when the computer picks up on it in a hundred miles or so we will see what kind of horsepower and torque it will make
It doesn’t take “a hundred miles or so” for the computer to pick up on a new program. It is instant.

I don't know of a better chip than a four bank diablo?????
Well, I’m not sure who sold you this one of a kind four bank diablo chip but you better hold on to it – you have the only one in existence.

...baring i don't lose no more than 2% of horsepower thru drive line we will see...
I don’t think so scooter! If you don’t lose at least 11.2% through the driveline in a Lightning then my assumptions about you are correct – you are not from Arkansas, you are from another planet; a planet with which friction does not exist.

Maybe I am a dumb ***... In fact I think everyone who read this thread is now dumber because of you.

You are the poster boy for contraceptives and I thank you!

So, are you saying you trap 110 in the quarter but are afraid to run that dumbass salesman? Wow... Yeah I think getting rid of your L is a good idea.

Well put .

I need not say much more. If you want a Dodge and the problems that go with it, go get one. But, don't come crying back here when a Lightning blows by the heavy brick you bought. Sounds like you found a salesman that could sell ice to a eskimo.
