At what point will I need a chip?
Currently I have a 2.8 upper, Homemade CAI, and a FTVB. I plan on getting an e-fan and/or LT's and exhaust. I have no chip now, but will I need one with the addition of either an e-fan or LT's?
You'll need a Chip
When you want 35 - 50 Xtra HP with those Mods you listed
Plus, how the hell can you drive it with Torque Reduction on,
and a rev limiter, "YICK"
BTW
You DO NOT need it with you current mods, or with the ones you
plan on adding

But in my opinion, you need a chip the second you drive the truck off the dealers lot
As rob said, there's 35/40 extra ponies waiting to be unleashed
If wrrnty IS NOT an issue, believe me you want a chip,
it is still the number one POWER and excitement adding
mod available to a Lightning.
Things like Shift Points, Timing, A/F, Tip In, Torque Reduction,
Rev Limiter/Fuel Cut Off, and soooooooo much more is addressed
with a Chip. You truly have a diff Truck with a Chip AND THE RIGHT TUNE.
As for When, 4lbs of Pulley is Definatly Chip and Colder Plug time. Anything up to that, your fine safety wise, but it's foolish.
There are lots of L's running up to 4lbs without a Chip, (even more) but you truly WILL NOT get optimal performance without it. Those people are leaving lots of HP and ET on the table using factory shift points, torque reduction, low timing, not enough fuel, etc.... Remember the more pulley you ad, hence the more air your sending into the Motor, hence the more Fuel you want to throw at it, MORE FUEL = MORE HP
. Plus you want to add more timing,
that alone will makes the WORLD OF DIFFERENCE,
Ask Gator about timing, he knows how important it is
A chip with your current mods should net you 35 or more HP over the factory #'s. With 4lbs and the usual Mods, people can see 50 HP with a good tune. Of course sometimes more, sometimes less.

One other option is to go with the Predator. You get all the advantages of the chip, but can return to factory settings if you have something go wrong and want a dealer to look at it. The Predator allows tuning without scraping the coating off the back of the stock ECM. That's something the dealers almost always look for.
