Thumbs up Bought the Lightning's new tow vehicle yesterday.

After getting jerked around by too many dealerships with a truck I made a stop at another one. These guys were pretty straight forward and that is what I like. I told them what I wanted and what I wanted to pay and they agreed. Just so happened they had the same exact truck I wanted on the way to the dealership and it should be here in a week or two.

The truck is a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 2500 4x4. 8100 big block, 4L80-E trans, Leather, Sunroof, DVD, XM Radio. Just about every option you can get. It will be Dark Grey Metallic with Dark Charcoal interior. Rated to tow 10,100 pounds with the 3:73's. If it had the 4:10's it could do 12,000. It will get the job done for me plus some.

I know a lot of you are probably gonna say you don't like Avalanches, hell even I don't like most of them. But they look sick in Dark Grey! I will post some pics when it comes in. But if you click on the link below there is a picture of it on Chevy's website.

Has anyone towed a Lightning with the 8100 motor>??? It has 440FTLBs of torque so it should do just fine. Any and all opinions are welcomed. Thanks, -Mat-

i think they are ugly just because of the plastic bottom parts. I've seen one where the guy sanded and painted the whole thing and it looked awesome. I'll duck out now before your accosted.

I've always liked them for some reason... I have a little 02 Avalanche that Chevy sent me a while back.

I think you can get them without that plastic crap now.

there is one with less plastic, but the body kit is kinda different. I actually like the plastic design, just not the plastic itself. The Non plastic one's look . . . . . sorta like a shoe or something.

next to the aztec the avalanche.........

You bought it for a purpose, not for looks though...

seems like it's up to the job of hauling the L around...

chip it and change the rear end.

I've never been a fan in the looks department but can tell you from experience it is a great truck. Very comfortable, roomy and versitile. I towed with the 1500 version with only the 5.3 and it didn't break a sweat. The tow haul mode is exceptional. Towed a Lightning with it no problem. Being you got a 2500 with the 8100 you will be fine.......except for your wallet, get ready for some serious gas $ while towing the L.

You just can't compare the Aztek to the Avalanche. The Aztek is one of the ugliest things on the road. Right next to the Element.
The coolers in the back of the Avalanche rock. The salesman said you can fit 15 cans in each side. That is a full 30 pack! WooHoo! -Mat-

Avalanche 2500

You will be more than fine towing the L with the 8100 motor, it will just eat gas.. I work for chevy so if you need any more info let me know, just email me sidriver2k@yahoo.com. Theres a guy at work with basicly the same avalanche and pulls a huge travel trailer and tons of farm crap.

I think you can get them without that plastic crap now.
Yes you can get them with out all the plastic crap. But it has the truck front end thats a little different than the full plastic version. But i think the only way to get the 8100 motor is to get the full plastic version

CONGRATS MAT, BEST OF LUCK BRO
Hey it is what it is, A TRUCK, and a good truck at that
You'll be happy with it, and it will easily do the task on hand.
A bud at work has one with HUGE RIMS + TIRES ON IT,
Looks kinda cool too, he loves it. I'll have to get you a Pic of it

BTW
Is everyone in Jersey Rich ???

Built Lightning,
Cobra,
now this Avalanche

I live in a shack, my L's covered in snow, I'm driving a POS Jeep with no heat, and I owe I owe off to work I go.
I have got to be doing something wrong ?
I guess that 50 - 100 a week on may play a small part
Hu ? , then there's the 5 cartons of cig's a month, hehehehe
You know now that I think about it, if I could stop smoking
""EVERYTHING"" I could free up AT LEAST $3 - 400.00 a month,
hmmmmmmmmmmm
And if I could stop eating every dam meal a day out, schitt,
I'd have Vinnie's money
I think I need to work on this

BEST OF LUCK MAT
I bet it can beat one of those Hemi's hehehehehehehehe

I'm kinda with you on this one. For me the aztec is in an (ugly) class all its own, but the avalanche leads the pack in the next lower class.
