From: Colorado,
If cold weather did that to Don's Focus I am getting a trailer and hauling my 66 Volkwagen bug out there to see what happens!

Talk about a sleeper

Don, Jackson Racing makes a nice Eaton blower kit for the Focus. I've done two installs on non-SVT Focus cars, and they really get a kick in the pants. Contact me if you are interested, we can dyno tune it after the install as well.

Thanks Sal
I am aware of the Jackson kit, while it is a good kit, I would choose this if I were to Blow the focus

Though I like it the way it is.

How the hell can that Focus handle that Motor

Kind of reminds me of when I dropped a 454 GMC tall deck
Big Block into a Box Nova, I tried the easy way
(I tend to do that) by simply cutting out MOST of the towers,
buying a set of custom fender well headers, modifying the
motor mounts, etc.... When I dropped it in, the front wheels
bent out like a elephant sitting on a VW

Ended up scraping that plan and dropping it in a 70 SS Camaro

I used the Jackson Racing kit on my Miata I was spinning the M45 to 17,750rpms at redline. The Eaton is better suited for the 4cyl vs. the centrifical blower. The Honda guys can get more power out of the centrifical by you have to rev the crap out of it good for mid to high rpm power vs. low to mid power. Over spinning the M45 with water injection gave me the best of both worlds. In racing of two identical 99 Honda Si's one with the Jackson setup and one with the Vortec the Eaton(Jackson) was quicker ended up with a 12.9 1/4 could be the drivers made the difference though.

Idealy I'd love to say I get an extra 50 horse running in the cold, vs the heat. I just can't really feel it because its so cold I dont get any traction. So spinning my tries through the intersection, or breaking the tires loose at 45mph is nice, but it may not be all the power the truck has. I would love to run at the track when its a cool fall night. 50-60 degrees or so I'd say would be safe to run the race program and some racing fuel. I'm afraid if I ran now, it'd be too cold to get traction, or I'd have to much timing for the weather. I'm looking forward to the upcoming months. I'm going to try to make it to the track a few weeks after it opens in April. It could be in the 50's then if I go on the right day.

Shane did we ever think in a Million Years
we'd be complaining that we cant stop doing smokeys

Like a frigging ice skating rink I tell you, no traction at all.
Even if you wait til your moving and just get in it 1/4 throttle,
you still have to get out of it when it hits second and starts going side ways. I think ANYTHING on the road would eat me off the line with these cold winters we've been having.

My F-1's are also now toast, so Next winter it's def DOT street slicks for me, they must help a little ?

Hah, I know what you mean. I used to kill to be able to spin the tires through an intersection. Now in the cold, with my bald f1's the truck will do it at 1/4 throttle. Full throttle, it just goes sideways, even at like 40mph. Once the springtime comes and it warms up to 50 or so, I'll be in heaven. Still I had a hard time launching sometimes in the summer. I need to learn a better way of getting off the line with all this power. I don’t know how much the traction bars are helping, but I know the tires don’t have much left to em'. I'm still waiting for a nice day in the spring at the track, with my slicks on, and racing fuel in the tank. Then all my worries will seem so far away.

Hey Rob, I'm part of the Nitto Brigade......and let me tell ya, in this cold and snow/slush, they dont do a dam thing at all.....but once you got them hot in the summer they hook pretty well on the street.
