High RPM sputter??

Tonight I heard what I believe was my first detonation...I revved it aty about 35 to pass someone and as the RPM's grew high I heard a "sputter" kinda sound....Could this be detonation? I recently just installed my 2.70 upper, SBTB, JLP ram air, and other mods...I have a chip but it isnt tuned for any pulleys, was that detonation I heard???

edit: It was more in the exhaust system than in the motor....just to clear that up!

Detonation sounds like a bunch of marbles rolling around in a coffee can, that's the best way I can explain it. What RPM were you at when you heard the stutter? Is it possible you hit the rev limiter?

Didnt looka t the tach but if I had to guess it was around 4500-5000. It definatly didnt sound like marbles, more deep tone than that...

Isn't it a bitch to pick out a noise over all that.

Between the Eaton Screaming Wind, and my Accu Fab Whistle,
I can't hear a got dam thing, but when my filter clogged at the
track, and I toasted 3 plugs, it started detonating and
there was no mistaken "something was wrong" ???
Sounded more like a gang of bandito's under my truck
with sledge hammers
OR SOMETHING ???

A toasted plug will give you a spudder too,
BE CAREFUL 400HPHD, I see your from Ohio, I got to assume
your having some serious temps too. But a 2.7 pulley shouldn't
be anything to worry about, many run it with no chip.
Did you set up the TB ???

It's real simple, if you didn't when you get a chance, check it.

Here's my "HOW TO" on it

Rob...do all Accufabs need to be adjusted like this?? And if so, what are the side effects of not doing it and having a bad reading....

Yes, they all need to be adjusted, even if you buy it with a TPS
already installed. I can tell you for a fact that's the correct info
in my "How To"

What it does when not adjusted correctly I truthfully DO NOT
know ??? But mine seemed fine when I put it on, and as my
link there showed, it was waaaaaaay out of wack.

But everyone say's you got to adjust it, so I did.
Maybe someone else will pop in with a better understanding
of what it would do if incorrectly adjusted ?
