Inspection time again, do you use your Chip program or shut it off for the test ?

Couple of weeks left to get the L inspected,
Do I want them checking emissions and running the inspection test on the stock program, street program, or race program ?

After seeing them rev the ever living schitt out of my jeep for two days and $700.00 to get it to pass inspection a few wks back
I have decided I MUST find a place I can wait and watch
and make sure no POS is over reving my L cause he
can't do a test right. I watched them screw the test us
at least 5 times on the jeep cause they couldn't follow
the test procedure. Each time they do that, they must start
the entire test over step by step.
(some of you know what I mean)

Whats the best program to use for the emissions ?

BTW,
weather I wait or not, THEY WILL HAVE STRICT INSTRUCTIONS THAT NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO DRIVE MY L

Now I gotta find someone I trust,
thats like finding a Hooker who gives change

What about the OBDII test? How would that work with a chip installed? Would it pass?

I've had mine tested with the chip in every time so far. No OBDII testing done yet though. It would probably tell the computer that it is a 3.0 Ranger or something.

Rob,
It shouldn't have any trouble passing so long as it's a decent street program.

Hey Rob, I think your best way to avoid this problem now and in the future would be to put it back to stock. Then I can buy all your parts for less than Vinnie would sell them to me for. LMAO

Not sure what the rules are there - BUT There is a long thread here that I was involved in that described my experience getting mine inspected in Texas with all my mods...

In Texas 96 and later DONT get sniff tested. Just hook up an ODBII scanner to look for codes and do the typical visual exam... my truck woul have been fine EXCEPT I reset the computer before going in to clear any codes. Since I hadnt completed an ODBII drive cycle it failed inspection - I drove it for a week took it back and it passed

Good Luck

Doug

Rob_02Lightning,
Although I dont have a Lightning I do have the flip chip installed in my F150 w/5.4. I keep it on the 92 octane side pretty much all the time. It passed no problem the first 2 years with the sniff test and just this July with the new OBDII test here in NC. Buddy at work has a Lightning with chip in his and never had a problem passing either with a more aggresive set-up on his.

Watch out Mart Man, that how he ropes you in,
gives you a deal or two at the beginning, but then once
he has you hooked, WAM THE PRICES DOUBLE

Great Info guys, THANKS

Doug, you mean I'm getting all worked up for nothing,
and we don't even get a sniff test ???
Wow that would be cool. Since I'm back down to 4lbs
as of a week or two ago, maybe I'll just switch the chip
to the mellow Nitrous side a day or so before I bring it in.
How long does this cycle take Doug ???

Josh, your the best, THANKS. I think I got a guy that'll
let me wait and watch by where I work, if it doesn't work out,
I'll let you know

No problem Rob...just try to give me a couple days notice in advance so I can talk to my friend and have him tell me what the best time for you to come in is. Youve answerd all my nitrous 101 questions, so its the least I can do. Let me know if you need new F-1s too, I can get him to hook you up on those too. Lemme Know
