I have tried programs along the way with 12, 14, 16, and now 18
Degrees, mine DOES NOT ping on 93 octane now or never.
I've never ran less octane than 93 so I can't help answering if it will with 91 Octane ???

I run 6lbs of extra Pulley(plus a little more from the JLP cool air) and Denso IT -22's gapped @ .038-.040

Pretty big difference between how much timing you can run with 91 versus 93. Doesn't seem like two points would matter much but it does. On 91 octane 17 degrees was pinging for me. I now run 19 degrees on 91, but I have an alcohol injection kit that allows that timing; would never work on straight 91. I am also running 14 psi.

I've run 26 psi with 93 octane and 14 degrees of timing. With alcohol injection.

I run 12 psi with 93 octane and 12 degrees timing. I think i need to step up to the plate and add some timing to my truck because on the flip side im on running 15-16 timing. I think i need more like 14 and 17 on my chip.

Like Jody Said 2 Degrees doesn't sound like much,
But it is, that can be an easy 3/10 th's ET right there.
If your really low, it can be more than that.
I Found mine falls absolutely flat on it's face with ANYTHING less than 15/16 degrees. Go searching for post I made back in the summer of 02 and you will find me going crazy trying to figure
out why week afer week after week I was running 13.1 -13.3.
My timing Was @ 11/12 degree's (it was my break in chip)

I had the tuner at the time "RWTD" (JP+IVAN) turn it up to 17
Degrees, and WAM first time out 12.7 with filter chip n 4lb.
Even ran a 12.8 on F-1's and pump gas.

Opened up 03 at Cecil, tried low timing again (orig JLP Chip)
First Nitrous attempt at Cecil was with a mere 13 Degrees or so and I ran a 12.8 on Juice I RUN FASTER WITHOUT JUICE AND MORE TIMING, so I cooled it down said screw this and switched it to my then 16 degree Gas Program, immediatly ran two identical back to back 12.0's NO OTHER CHANGES, Full weight too, and only with 4lbs of pulley, and 65HP of N2O.
(YES VINNIE AND GATOR, IT'S ALL IN THE TIMING)
Then V made a pass but he just mellowed down the track to a 12.7. I also ran a 12.2 at the end, had to back off it twice due to violent hopping.
All in all a very productive day, and great start to the season.

Weeks later I wen't to my track and tried the Juice but only got it down to 12.5 the 1st week, the 2nd or 3rd week I managed a 12.3 full weight hot off the parkway, 65HP juice, 16 degree's,4lb.
Made an all gas run on the SAME PROGRAM and ran 12.7 NO JUICE. Then for schitt and giggles I switched it to the low timing 13 degree program and tried making another "all gas" pass,
results were 13 flat

THIS IS WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS ONCE AGAIN TIME FOR MO TIMING, hehehehehehehe.

Johnny tweaked it up to 16 degrees for juice and 18 for gas,
went to English Town and Wam 11.81 w/16 degrees.
I still haven't made any all gas passes using the new 18 degree program, but if I consistantly run 12.7's + 8's @ 16, I know it'll be 6's and maybe even 12.5 With NO JUICE now.

So to sum it up
WRITING THIS HURT MY BRAIN,
hopefully you got something out of it

I jumped to 16deg this summer (from 14) and run 93 Oct.
no pings ,ever, and it did make a noticable difference.

It's now getting into the 20's and still running good and
zero pinging.

I run 17 on street side with 93 octane. 21 on race side for 100 Octane.

It does stay above 55-65 degrees here most of the time, so the issue of timing advance from cool weather does not affect us much. Oh yeah...I have run that on boost levels from 12 all the way up to 15.

Never a ping or pong.
