“Safe Corridors”

As I drove on to Rt 46 in Wayne last night on the way home from work I noticed a new sign that said “Safe Corridors, all fines doubled in this zone". I guess it is another way for the state and insurance companies to make more money.

I know, thou shall not speed

It's all about money, not safety. With the majority of municipalities in the red, they have to make money somehow. If everyone went a week without speeding, the US economy would crash, and crime would run rampant. Cities wouldn't be able to fund their other crime fighting activities, and would have to raise their other fines. You'd be fined more for assault and battery than for going 10 over on a rural road.

Sounds like you need a radar detector. Speed traps are a thing of the past.

Except 1 month ago for me - 1 week after getting the new L, it's snowing out - so I leave the Bel detector at home, get lost in the boonies, and take a one lane backroad to get back on track.

[Sub-rural] suburban cop, likes the shiny new truck, gives me a ticket for 32 in a 25! First ticket in over 3 years.

Never pulled over with it on. Goes to show, highway or local - don't leave home without it.

Great, so what does that make the whole friggin state of NJ a double fine zone?

I can't wait for elections and they boot his greedy butt out.

If they want us to be safe how about making it harder to get a license, something other then more proof to renew your license, and raising the speed limits on highways. Then I'll believe it's about our safety.

I agree. I wonder how a lot of these people actually get licenses....

Yep, now we've got three ways to get double fines:

65mph zones
Construction zones
Safe corridors

I'm all for double fines in construction zones, but the others are a bit silly.

BTW, that stretch of Rt46 that is safe corridor is speedlimit 50mph too...even where it is three lanes wide with no lights.

That's true. Fines for Public urination would triple and then I would be pissed.
