i was just looking at what I typed and since I said the "safe" it seems to me that the power cooler, efan and heat exchanger all seem like good ideas.... since I do live in texas I figure they might actually help.... but with these mods, what can I expect to notice in HP??

for the money id have to asy the FTVB, its my favorite modby far! (it wont help you that much though...ive heard 2-3 tenths in the 1/4?)

after that maybe the gears? i wouldnt know the difference, i have an 03?

i dont think that any of the mods you listed are unsafe necessarily.

i hear that the ported eaton is a good way to go, im considering it myself...

I would go with fans on the intercooler and a bigger intercooler if you a street racer like many of us(me) since we are in the south with all the heat year round. Then you could get an intake spacer and the list of small stuff goes on but the fans would be my next mod if i was you. MY restraint from more mods is money since im 17 i dont have a wife. If i had more money id have a built motor/tranny/bigger s/c

after readng almost every useful threa don all the boards for the past 3 years I'd have to rate mods in this order, for performance only:

1) 90mm MAF (if you're not 01+) with a Cold/fast ai intake from any COmpany.

2) a 4-5LB Lower pully.

3) Boost bypass mod

4) FTVB

5) The Blower porting.

6) Colder plugs, TR-6's or denso IT-22's

a Zex 50ish Shot

and a Chip burnt for it all.

Money wise that'd be the way to go.

DOn't forget you should slap on some slappers or ranchos.

oh.. 450rwhp is about the limit on a stock block.

500 rwhp (your goal) is kinda pushing it

Hey this topic came up at our meet tonight.

The answer:

It's better to ask for forgiveness later then permission now.

Your sig says you have rancho bars.

You say it's a daily driver and you don't go to the track so I will base my answer on that.

Let's go over the mods that you mentioned.

FTVB (Yes)

Heat Exchanger (Yes for the street but not much at the track)

3.73 gears (i have 2000) (Very little at the track and a no on the street)

Efan/Cobra R pump combo (Very useful for track cooldown but should still show something on the street)

Super OR Power Cooler (Worth 2-3 tenths at the track but useless on the street)

Throttle Body (A good mod for daily driving because of the big increase in throttle response but no real gain at the track)

Apten Ported Eaton (This should be a good mod all the way around)

Torque Converter (Numbers vary at the track from none to 3 tenths but would probably be useless on the street)

full long tube headers + exhaust (1-2 tenths at the track, more speed and better throttle response on the street. It will be loud)
If you have a single Flowmaster dual in/dual out on your truck get that POS off and you will see a power increase.

Why hasn't anybody mentioned a lower pulley and chip combo. These seem to offer the best gains for least investment. IMHO
