Blue smoke

First of all I know it is not a Lightning. The reason for the post here is ya'll know alot about the 5.4. I was doing some cleaning on my truck including my drop in K & N. Well took the filter out and cleaned left it out to dry. Well I went to move the truck with the filter out to get it into a better spot to wash the truck. Well I started the truck (without the filter) and got a small cloud of blue smoke. My truck (EXPY) has never done this before it has 138k miles on it. Didnt smoke after start up. Just wondering if this could have something to do with starting it without the filter. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like valve guides are worn out, I don't see see how a filter being out would do that unless you spilled oil in the air box. Mike

Thanks
I hope that is not it never done it before was just hoping it had to do with the filter out. I have let the truck sit for a couple of days before(recently) and it did not do this on start up.

if it did it once i wouldn't worry about it. I've done some intake cleaning before and i guess i got some crap in the intake and when i started it i had a big puff of smoke but then nothing afterwards. Shouldn't be a big deal.

Nothing to worry about unless you start noticing using oil between changes or it does it all the time.
