Question Traction bars

I want to go with Slicks for next season but i heard from alot of people that i would need traction bars, otherwise i will cause severe damage to my rear axel and u joints. I ordered rpm bolt on traction bars. Are these good enough or should i go with a better set like rancho or slapper bars. I realize that these are better, but more expensive in the end. Any help will do Thanks

The RPM Traction Bars (Lakewoods) appear to be a decent set of Slapper Type Bars. These will be fine at your power level and will give you great launching right down into the low 12's, or faster.

Once you get into the 11's, you may want the Rancho or 4 Link or Cal Trac Style Bar to prevent the rear from lifting on you at Launch.

I Loved My Truck Traks and got 1.6 60ft's with them pretty much every time, now I switched to the 58" JDM Rancho style and I'm
looking foward to seeing what 60ft's I get from them

I have the Lakewoods from Summit for $99 and they work great. I also like the fact that the truck rides like stock around town still cruising. Good bang for the money...reduces the risk of the driveshaft breaking

OT: Rob_02: You running 1.6 60fts on the stock converter / tranny? People say you can't run them on a stock converter

I'm selling some..

they bolt right on, took about 15 minutes, (had to climb under the truck)

Here they are bolted on to the truck, you can see where they touch the leaf spring and that is PROOF that they work.

YES, you will. I busted my driveshaft on the 2nd pass without them. Go ahead and spring for the safety loop while you're at it. I got a Competition Engineering one and it is N-I-C-E. Took all of about 5 minutes to bolt in. Would've saved my exhaust had I put it on BEFORE my driveshaft beat it to smithereans. Live and learn.

My traction bar experience

Started with Truk-Tracs. 1.72 60'(stock tranny) Went to lift bars 58". 1.72 60' No better. They do drag the ground and trailer when loading and make me carry alot more fuel(weight) because they lift so hard where Truk-Tracs lift the rear, no fuel problem. I'm keeping my lift bars modding frt. brket. so does'nt drag and installing Pro Stock 2gal fuel cell up frt.w/ pump& filter, reg. Should make me quiet a bit lighter. Had to run between 1/4 & 1/2 tank to keep from cutting out after launch with lift long bars What ever. Ed
( keeping original tank but with switch to switch tanks)
