Dyno #s

Here are my #s from the dyno and mods.....

387.2 rwhp
473.7 rwtq
A/F 11.6 all the way across

CAI, 90mm MAF, Bassani Cat Back w/x pipe, NGK TR6s, SVO Single Blade T/B, Diablo Predator (RWTD tune), 2lb pulley, JDM Line Mod Valve 4x4 pan w/filter, Outrageous Perf Efan, Cobra R water pump, 160* Hypertech Stat, 3:73s

I am happy with these #s but hopefully will reach the 400/500 club when I put the 4lber on.

Looks good. The A/F is really is the good safe range. But I doubt that just a 4# is going to give that extra 13 hp over the 2#. Maybe if the tune is leaned out a tad too to like 11.8-11.9...maybe...

Most tuners say 385-395 with a 4# pulley...good luck!

why did you choose the 160 stat? I thought the general consensus was that it was too cold

Nice #'s for a 2lb'r Black Lightning
Amazing A/F, I'm impressed with the flatness of it
JP (RWTD) burns a mean Program
He tuned me right to a 12.8 et with a simple filter-chip-n-4lb'r
on f-1's + pump gas when my truck was only months old.

it doesn't

Goin from top left to bottom right is torque and the other is horsepower. The two numbers at the edges are the part i don't get. Also the numbers are adjusted on the side.

I don't know when that became the general consensus. A lot of us have been running a 160* stat, for a long time now, with no problems. A few have said that they think the 160* stat is too cold; but, who's proved it? The 160* is the better choice IMO.

There's the key statement.

I thought 160 was too cold, for any engine really, just basically being open all the time. I think i recall a couple people throwing a code where the warm up cycle would never complete and such, and I just hadn't seen any comparative dyno charts and such.

General consensus is the sticking point. It means there is an agreement by the majority that something is correct or accepted. The is no consensus on this topic that states that the 160* stat is bad. It depends on where you live as to whether it is too cold or not. During the coldest months of the year, in the coldest parts of the country, some people have claimed to have had warm-up problems. Most people have nothing to worry about with a 160* thermostat installed.

Do a search for "High Roller" user name.

He has done all kinds of dyno testing with the thermostats being one of them. Bottomline is the 160 made more HP than the 170 or 180 (Stock) stats.

Very, very few have thrown a code and I think the 2 or 3 that did were 03's.

The 160 keeps my engine temp at 176 - 177 degrees.

BTW, nice numbers Damon.

The two numbers at the edges are the part i don't get.
The two #s at the edges is where the graph was clicked on to show what the #s were at that point (does not mean anything just forgot to take it off).

Great numbers man. I hope mine will break into the 400/500 club when I get my JLP parts (had to take advantage of that new years deal) PS, kinda looks like your thread is getting hijacked by the thermostat gang. LOL

Great numbers by the way.

Nice numbers. Maybe one day I will make the 400/500 club. Best of luck on getting there! No take it to the track. -Mat-
