Diesel sound

Could someone tell me what is causing my truck to sound like a diesel at idle? Sounds like a slight bell ringing and a quiet cackling of a diesel truck.. What can be done to quiet this down or fix this?

THanks

sorry this isn't what you were looking for, but what grill is that on your truck? it looks very nice. is that the street trenz or street scenes or whatever?

honestly, I tried to come up with something on your noise, but it's hard to diagnose a noise that someone is describing to you, even worse via keyboard. good luck.

later,
chris

Its the street scene stainless steel grille. Thanks for the compliment..I think they really wake the front end of these trucks up a lot.. Sorry for the blurry pic , i'm gonna up an updated pic of my truck with better clarity this weekend.. Since this pic I've put a AAD Cobra hood, updated my headlights to the 01 and up and stuck a carbon fiber "Lightning overlay badge over the ford emblem..

noise

Hi: You might want to check the bolts in your lower blower pulley they could be loose or may have some piston slap (more when engine is cold) I changed my hood since we met on the freeway check it out

I assume by the post that this IS NOT effecting anything,
just a noise.

With that said, it sounds like your experiencing "cavatation"
(I believe it's called) lots of us have it. Mine is fine with 6lbs
of pulley, but as soon as I back down to 4lbs, just like a
poltergeist, ---> IT'S BACK<---
A matter of fact I switched back to 4lbs just 2 days ago,
and that was the first thing I heard when I started the
Truck back up.

It has to do with the RPM of idle, the amount of air coming in,
and the temp of the air coming in too (I believe).
No damage being done, just another noise to deal with.

Of course I could be wrong,
but it sounds like that to the tee

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I have the exact same sound. Took the truck out yesterday and when I start it up I hear it at idle. Sounds "dieselish"

I stopped by my dealer to talk to my SVT mechanic who is a buddy of mine. He said it wasn't detonation (which is what I was worried about) and that to put the pedal to the metal lol.

Ok thanks guys..It just bothers me when i focus in on it.. Hey Lightning5.4... Nice hood I like that a lot..I started to get the shaker hood but I ran across a deal from someone on this site that I couldn't pass on the cobra hood.. I believe you had that on when we met on the HWY.. Have you done any other mods since? I took mines to the track over the summer and ran a lousy 13.52 at 103mph.. Everyone at the track says thats pretty good considering how hot it was (94 degrees).. I never could get back during the fall to get some true times plus I put some Nittos on to hopefull slice off a tenth or two... Maybe I possibly could have made a low 13 to high 12 sec. pass..

Happy New Year everyone!!!!
