Very nice and clean looking.
BTW, where did you get that black Ford emblem? I want one for my '03 Harley.

That clinches it...I am now going to shave the caps on my bumpers as well. That looks great, and as you know imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Thanks, yes the caps have been shaved along with every other piece of bare plastic I could pull off the truck.

The emblem is a Billet emblem and is made by "Grille Ware". Do a search and you will find they make one for the front and rear in blue or black. The large will fit the front and the small will fit the rear. They are excellent quality and fit flush. I think I bought mine from a truck aftermarket magazine sent to my house.

I am currently working on shaving and fillind a 2nd oem wiper cowl.
Looks good already!

There they are Thanks for posting more pics Tampa...I think I'm gonna keep the stock plastic though cause would be my luck that I get all that done and some moron goes steppin all over it with their muddy shoes. Have you thought about protecting the finish in any way? Someone brought it up before when talking about smoothing pieces on the truck...that 3M protectant film. Not sure how well it would hold up to something like a step or even how expensive it would be but it's an option to protect your hard work. I would also like to see pics of your smoothed out wiper cowl...prolly above and beyond the SS piece!

How does this compare to Street Scene rails/step and the Sir Michael's roll pan?

Derk,
It's me and your Mom, to bad she's to ugly to even cast a reflection!
She got crazy skills homefry!

I do have a Fibernetics cover... the pieces are oem fit, so to me that's better than any aftermarket item. Plus, with every other rollpan your frame is wide open to damage in a rear end collision, spare tire mechanism is hard to operate and to top is off, it's illegal and you could get a ticket.

Im not sure if that's an insult or not.... G

As far as your frame being bent during an accident...

(with the sir micheals pan)

The tailgate and the sides of the bed will share the impact along with the bumper supports. The bumper bolts directly to the frame, so the frame can be damaged from a rear impact either way if the hit is hard enough.

The stock bumper absorbs quite a bit, but not as much as you would think. The 99 flare side I had prior was rear ended very lightly one day by a smaller truck... the bumper bent down on one side and was crooked. The supports where it attaches were also bent downward... I was hit at below 5 mph mind you.

Your insurance would cover the extra damage, they don’t know the difference anyhow. I have yet to hear of anyone getting a ticket or even a warning for a roll pan.

If someone was real worried they could weld a piece of steel across the rear between the bumper brackets. It would be invisible from the outside but would absorb some of the hit and help *somewhat*
