1st problem with the L since I've owned it

My guage cluster lighting has bit the bullet. Did some searching and from what I understand, is that the whole cluster has to be replaced along with reflashing the PCM and reprogramming the keys for the PATS system.

Question 1 : Is this(flashing the PCM or reprogramming the PATS system) going to affect my chip in any way? I really don't want to pull the chip out if it's not necessary.

Question 2 : Has anybody tried some alternative lighting for the cluster, like mouting a couple of bulbs in front of, or behind, or pointing at the cluster. Would this even work ?

My truck has never been back to the dealership since I bought it and if there is an alternative for this problem I would choose this rather than warranty work at the dealership.

Any comments and or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I recommed pulling the chip and sending it to the dealer. Just in case there's more than one problem. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it all squared away.

Dave.

I hear you bro,
No ONE has EVER raised a wrench to MY L,
EXCEPT ME.
I would use a flashlight myself before allowing a stranger
to touch mine. I'm already all worked up because the
inspection is due soon.
Gee I hope they let me watch like last time,
I REFUSED TO LEAVE IT (I'm like a Baby, and thats my Blankey)

GOOD LUCK DAVE
Hope you figure it out

Maybe they're afraid of losing an eye

Dave,

I am sorry to hear your first problem is a *****ty one.

I had one bad dealer experience with the L and thats enough for me.

Good luck getting it fixed.

Whatever you do. DO NOT LET ROB02LIGHTNING FIX IT. You'll be paying for an eye operation.
