JLP "customer care"

What care? He built me a motor that is burning oil, 10 quarts 5271 miles. It has always done it, It had to do it with him, but h*ll I didn't catch it until I got back to NC. I let him know it was low 3 days after I had the truck, then I let him know 2 other times. I guess he knows he got my 13,000 oh well not his problem. And if he wants to act like that fine, but I am tempted to sell the truck. What good is it going to a gas station filling up on oil and checking the gas? Well then on the 24th I blew a head gasket, he said he would fix that, for 1200 dollars. Johnny you are not going to get one more cent of my money. I stuck with John Wiker cause I thought if something wasn't right he would make it right, that was a joke....he has done this to another member of this board and told him "it ain't my problem" The damn motor runs strong 12.03 is pulling for my setup, but everyone I am just going to let you know, think twice about going with JLP. I would find someone that would STAND BEHIND THEIR NAME. Well I guess I am going to take my truck to fastlane, here in NC and let them boys go at it. She will be up and running, but I will no longer have a fu cking JLP sticker on my truck!

Doesn't seem like a good business move. One unhappy customer CAN make a difference in somebody's business. Haven't had any dealings with JLP to date, this would cause me to be catious.

Funny, you post this when JLP is taking a two week holiday vacation and can't defend himself.

I'm not taking his side, but is there more to this story. We need to hear both sides of the story..

Did you install the shortblock and heads or have JLP do it? The problem could be with the machining of the block, or (hate to say it) could be your fault. Improper break-in of a new engine (especially with racing moly-faced rings) will lead to oil consumption every time. If you installed the heads yourself did you check the valve guide clearance and install new valve seals? Give us a little more info and maybe we can help narrow down the problem, because based on what you posted it may not be JLP's fault.

Trey Johnson, I find this kind of shocking and disturbing..To go on the public forums and do what you are doing without sitting down and thinking this thru..
Up to this point you have had nothing but praise for our company. You made over 560 RWHP.over 640 trq..
here is your statement.

new best times

I added my headers/cats (JLP) and WOW. My truck last ran 12.46-12.49, almost every time. Today went out and made a pass very soon. I ran a 12.3006, so I waited a little while and try it again...ran a 12.05 I was very happy. Next run 12.06. Ugh went up I wanted to go down so I tried one more time, 12.03!!! I guess I reached that d*mn stopping point. You know what I am talking bout you do a little to your truck and it runs good, drops some tengths, run again shaves a little more off the ET then you reach that wall that you cant go pass. So I quit put on street tires and ran, 12.99 LoL I am very happy with my times. A 12.03 with stock throttle body,injectors,and only 13lbs of boost. Something tells me I am going to up the boost here shortly! "
You also state how happy you are with your Engine...

Your going to love it holeshot, I love my motor..
And i can go on and on.
what you havn't told. is that you and i have talked about the engine using some oil and i told you to keep track of how much it uses. We did get a batch of bad valve seals installed on a few sets of our heads from the Head shop that we use.(We @ JLP had no way of knowing that the seals were bad)..Since we have a head shop do our heads.. You also failed to mention that when you installed your LTH Exhaust and turned the boost up.(read your post where you said yourself you was going to up the boost). that you had the A/F's rechecked on the dyno.and that is was running lean after you changed the exhaust.. You and i spoke the day before christmas about this and i said remember you still have the *stock* injectors.. Send me your chip and i will see if i can richen up the fuel. but i didn't think so because of the stock injectors.. You said OK i'll get my chip out to you.. and that was the last time i heard from you till today..in which you told me you were just driving the truck easy and it started missing and blowing white smoke.. You were suppose to get the chip to me to see if i could put more fuel to it. but you didn't. and now your upset at us.. You knew it was too lean but you chose to run the truck hard after you and i spoke.. I tried very hard to convince you to let us put the 50# injectors in your truck when we did the job. but you said you didn't have the extra $ at the time. and that you were going to leave your truck the way it was when it left our shop.i said ok. but now after nearly 6000 miles you chose to change the exhaust and put more boost to it. without installing the bigger inj. and having us re-tune the chip for your new combination..We @ JLP Deeply regret that you are angry with us.. However we did not cause this problem.This kind of thing happens to us all some time or another in the racing world..We wish you the best with your truck. and only wish you would have sat down and really thought this thru. before going on this public forum and start blaming us for what happend ......best regards..JL

I been with Johnny since day one. I seen Trucks come and go from the shop. Each truck gets the best attention from Johnny and i know this for a fact.. I think i know who you are. I was there a few times when your truck was being worked on . Each and every truck gets high quality parts and labor including yours!! If you have any problems you need to contact johnny personally to resolve your problems.And im sure it will be resovled..

Story sounds very different now. Don't see any reason not to trust JLP. Like "DL" said, we need to hear both sides.

DL,

There has NEVER been a problem with members posting thier experiences. Both positive and negative. The issue becomes when the member posted the same thing 20 times or on unrelated posts. Or when a member posts something that didnt happen to them, something they heard about.

Vendor bashing will no longer be tolerated on this forum. Detailed and truthful first person (not posts like "my friend got screwed by...") posts about positive and negative experiences with F150online Supporting Vendors will be encouraged within the context of a thread and will not be removed (which means that they will be searchable for all the see when researching a vendor), however repeatedly posting negative comments or intentionally driving threads off-topic with "dead-horse" issues will result in:

1) Warnings sent by email for a first offense.
2) Banning for a second offense.
~~~~~edit~~~~
IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A SUPPORTING VENDOR, RESOLVE THAT ISSUE WITH THEM DIRECTLY, NOT ON THESE FORUMS.
But you knew that ....
Doug
DL,
If Doug would have Closed this then Johnnies response would not have made this thread. Which turned out to be the right thing because Johnny seemed to lay the "smack down" on him.
I hate to see anything bad happen to another L owner but Johnny did suggest 50 lb. injectors and the guy wanted to wait.
I had listened to my tuner when he said (Fuel pumps and injectors would be necessary to get the #s you want)
Remember the old saying , " You can pay a Little now, or a LOT later"
Definately pertains to this situation.
Hope everything works out.
VINNIE
I agree with Vinny, by leaving the thread open JL had time to respond. In my opinion Chargedharley there are better ways to handle this problem. Good luck.
Sorry to hear, but glad Johnny got in to say his piece. Sure seems that the person who trusted Johnny for his work, decided not to listen to what Johnny had to say
I guess some new fuel pumps will be going in mine shortly too, not because I need them, its because I will need them
First let me say I am totaly against vendor bashing.If you have a problem with a vendor take it up with them.That's a much better way to handle things.
I am not taking sides here BUT I HATE THIS:We did get a batch of bad valve seals installed on a few sets of our heads from the Head shop that we use.(We @ JLP had no way of knowing that the seals were bad)..Since we have a head shop do our heads
In essence,sub the work out and then take no responsibilty for the work if something is wrong.The old shrug the shoulders and I didn't do it.If work has to be subbed out due to not having the proper machines or know-how to do the work then take responsibility for whom YOU brought the work too.
