Remove panel on top of dash?

Anyone know how the panel on the top of the dash comes off? I'm talking about the oval concave "insert" on top and not the bezel around the stereo or instrument cluster.

It sorta feels like it would just pop right out, by I hate to tug too hard if it's not meant to be removed in that way.

If I remember right... It does just pop out... If its too hard to get out.. you could remove the airbag and then push from the bottom.

it just pops up.. take your time.
when you put the cover back on, it may look warped, but once the sun warms it up, it'll go back to normal.

i put a line driver & a phoenix gold "bass cube" in there.

Hrm... less room to get under the top of the passenger's side dash than I was hoping. I'm trying to isolate and fix a squeak that makes a sounds like I've got a styrofoam cooler shoved up under my dash panel.

The side of your photo is cut off.. any idea if there is room to get a hand under the dash panel up near the passenger-side windshield?
